Top 10 dissapointing players in the Brady/BB era

Nope...just the smurf

You are right that most would not agree with your sentiment but I suppose we're all entitled to our own rationale. After all, one of my friends was a huge Pats fan but could not stand Kevin Faulk.......and ALL because of ONE PLAY. It didn't matter how many great plays he made, he just had ONE PLAY stick with him forever. He was referring to a 2002 game at home against the Packers in which an intended screen pass was not caught and in fact was a lateral. Kevin Faulk was closest to the ball and made no attempt to recover it. Eventually a Packers player from across the field recovered the fumble.

I think the general masses of Pats fans however would agree that hatred of either Woodhead or Faulk is just silly. Neither of them would be considered disappointments, either.

I know this wont be a very popular choice, but I just couldn't stand Danny Woodhead. I know he had talent, but he was just so small, I cringed when he would come on the field. Yes, he made some great plays, but he was simply a smurf playing a giants game......just one of those players I never liked.
You're right about it not being a very popular choice because it's kind of asinine. Woodhead came through in the biggest moments against really good teams, including the SF game when they were destroying the Pats and the second SB against the Giants (immediately jumps out in my mind). He played far bigger than his size and was very durable . . . a lot more so than Vereen and Lewis (obviously). He caught the ball well and ran between the tackles. He was also really good at identifying the blitz and I watched him put big LB's on their asses many times. I was more upset about the Pats letting him walk than I was about Welker, especially when I saw the modest contract he got from SD (until the signed him to a bigger one).

I don't know man. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion, but Woodhead is just the man to me. I'd gladly have him part of the RB corp. in NE any day. He damn near was the every down option in SD and, IMO, outperformed what they had at the time. He's a football player and a damn good one.

It is what it is. You saw him as a good player, and say you saw him put LBs on their butts....and I saw him get crushed more than once out there.....say what you want, I just never thought he was that impressive. I guess him not being here anymore means I wasn't the only one that felt that way.

You're probably right, I know most my buds loved Woodhead.....he's just that guy I never really got behind, and was happy to see replaced. Funny thing is that Lewis is even smaller, but to me, WAY more explosive and dangerous....

And so Faulk, Vereen, and Lewis never got knocked down, huh? Yeah. I guess every guy who is allowed to walk is not impressive to the team, huh. So much for the theory of cap casualties, huh? I guess the Bears coach talking about wanting to keep McClellan, for example, but needing to succumb to a numbers game has nothing to do with a player joining another team, huh? And get this, most Bears fans are saying he sucked. You must have just learned football . . . welcome aboard. :D

I remember at the time of his signing, forums of all the other teams were in meltdown at the thought of us having TWO of these! Good times :D

I'm not angry because you don't like a certain player. I don't know you so why do you believe you'd ever make me angry? Don't take yourself so seriously. Secondly, if I were to be angry, it would be because you say you don't like a player and provide NOTHING of substance other than he's small and you cringed when he had the ball. Did you not see the plays he consistently made when he had said ball in his hands? I mean did you cringe so bad that you turned from the screen, or do you just not understand the game of football? Why would I even continue this? Look, I mean you no harm or disrespect. I just thought I was in a debate worth having, and I was wrong. I apologize. Mods, is there an age restriction on the board?

obviously you are looking to be a douche....good luck to ya. I voiced an opinion and you jumped all over me....don't bother responding to me again drama queen.

Andy Katzenmoyer is exactly the kind of player to get casual draft fans and the "future GMS in waiting" types excited on draft day, while the "reaches" for Sebastian Vollmer cause much wailing, gnashing of teeth, and rending of garments, even though the resulting performances turned out to be opposite of the initial perceptions.

Wasn't Andy Katzenmoyer draft by Pete and not Bill (so to speak)? This is a list I aimed at BB and Bill.

I agree that he wasn't disappointing enough to make the top ten, but man was I disappointed with Scott Chandler. I thought he'd be more like Welker in that he was a guy who pestered the Patriots as a division rival for years who would be even more explosive under the Pats' mentorship.

He failed to do so, and it wasn't due to a 'lack of opportunity'. There were plenty of missing and banged up weapons at the end of the year (Edelman, Gronk, Amendola) in which Chandler had a chance to really shine (but did not).

I thought the same, he used to kill us up the seem....then gets here and seems average at best. I thought he'd be great. Here's hoping Mr Bennett works out to the hype....I'm very hopeful.

We went through a stretch of time where we were always short of Linebackers and signed Chard Brown.

Mack Herron and Dave Meggett were two of my favorite little big men.

I have to take the blame. I think I was the first one to bring him up here.
