I hate the draft being so late now. It also doesn't give the rooks as much time to get assimilated into their new programs.

I bet in 2000, GoAT already knew 75% of the offense on day 1 of camp.

anyone remember who the compensation was for? I don't

I remember the Pats picking him, thought it was a great pick for the 6th round. I remember watching him at Michigan and thinking, he's pretty good, why are they jacking him around by splitting his snaps with a freshman? Also watched that Orange Bowl where he made a nice comeback. Thought it was an excellent pick for the 6th round.

Never thought it would amount to what it did. In fact was horrified when Drew Bledsoe went down.

Also was more excited by the RB JR Redmond pick in the 3rd round, thought he was gonna be really good, looked like a stud in college.

Yeah when Bledsoe went down, I remember thinking: "Well, we suck now. At least we'll be at the top of the draft."

I guess having arguably the greatest dynasty in NFL history is a nice consolation prize to having the #1 overall pick in 2002.

"In 1999, the Patriots lost linebacker Todd Collins, punter Tom Tupa, defensive tackle Mark Wheeler and offensive lineman Dave Wohlabaugh in free agency. As a result, they were awarded four compensatory picks: Nos. 127, 199, 201 and 239. Because it's a formula, you can't equate an exact one-for-one in terms of the specific lost free agent who netted the 199th pick. For example, you can't just say it was Tupa who yielded the 199th pick. But now, you've got a new trivia question at your disposal: Which four free agents did the Patriots lose in 1999 who helped them draft Brady with a compensatory pick in 2000?"

That part's not actually true. It is specifically one of those four.

Other than the birth of their children,(and MAYBE Toms wedding day), Ill bet this was the most important day of their lives to both TB and BB. Without BB, Tom would still have been in the GOAT conversation. And without TB, BB would still be in the GOAT convo for both HC and GM. But i dont think either would have had as much success w/o the other. I just dont get some posters here who seem to have the attitude that one was great and the other wasnt-regardless of which guy they lean to. Y'all gotta have some kind of weird agenda. Fact is, anyone who truly looks objectively at the ENTIRE body of work of either one of em, can only come to the conclusion that theyre both the GOAT or at least in the top 3. And thats the opinion of most respected nfl pundits-not just Pats fans. Why do y'all(and you know who you are) have to slight one? It doesnt make the other one greater. Why not just appreciate both of em? What we have is very rare and unprecedented. Why not just enjoy it?

Another example of Belichick the GM making it harder for Belichick the Coach.
It's made me harder for 16 years...and, imagine, they say you should see a doctor after 4 measly hours...
