Was just going through the Pat's record from 1996-2015, 20 seasons, and just blown away by the record from 1996-2015. Let's start out with the regular season. 225-95 during that time, a .703 winning percentage. .703 !! That's insane. In those 20 seasons, only 1 losing season (2000, BB's 1st season, they were 5-11), ONE losing season ! They were in 11 AFC Championship games (more than half of the AFCCGs), going 7-4 in those games. In the 7 SBs, they went 4-3. But think about it, they've been to more than a third of the SBs in those 20 years, and more than half of the AFCCGs in those 20 years. That's just sick.

Their Playoff record during that time was 24-12. That's a .667 winning percentage in the toughest time of the year. Amazing. Only 3 one and done losses during the 20 year span. They made the playoffs 16 years during the 20 years, and only 3 one and done losses.

Overall, playoffs and regular season, the last 20 years they were 249-107, a .699 winning percentage. Let that soak in for a second. That's an average of 11+ wins a season for 20 years ! Mind boggling for an old timer like myself who remembers 2-14 and 1-15 seasons.

Just an incredible 20 years of excellence, maybe the best 20 year period for any team in the history of football. I hate what he did during Deflategate, but a ton of credit goes to Mr. Kraft for buying the team, and obviously the majority of credit goes to Belichick and Brady over the last 15 years. Parcells and Bledsoe the 5 years previous to that. We are indeed a spoiled fanbase, Amazing 20 years.

Why this post? Has the run ended or close to?

Why your post? Seems pretty nonsensical to ask when the OPs post is self-explanatory..

It goes to show just how dominant the Pats have been over that time frame. And that is despite the Salary Cap and 2 BS penalties that have stolen 3 draft picks from the Pats..

Nah, just fascinated by the great run the Pats are currently on. I thought I'd look at the last 20 years. The numbers are astounding.
With the exception of SB wins, they've destroyed every argument proclaiming the 49ers have the edge.

I sound like Don Sweeney and Dan Duquette with that sentence.

Also Patriots did it without cheating.

taking off my homer glasses, The Pats have had(and its still not over), the greatest 20 year run in nfl history. obviously, sf is the only other team even in the convo, but the fact that the Pats did it in the salary cap era alone is the tiebreaker. So they had the greatest LONG stretch in history. But i think you can also argue the greatest SHORT stretch. Theres only 3 teams in that discussion: 01-04 Pats(3 sbs in 4 years), early 90's cowboys(same thing) and mid 70"s steelers(4 sbs in 6 years but did NOT win 3of 4). The Pats beat out dallas since only part of that dynasty was in salary cap era. The steelers not only did it with no salary cap, but also no free agency. Id say at worst, a tie between pats and steelers for best short-term dynasty but when you put together what the pats have done from both 01-04, and from 96-now(and STILL counting), its not even close. So we have the GOAT coach, the GOAT gm, the GOAT qb and the GOAT team.

Thanks

This is about me.....right?

Unbelievable run which has given me a unique gift. I watched the first Brady/BB SB with my brother, friends and family and the latest Brady/BB SB with my fanatical kids, friends and family. Being able to watch my sons face light up after they won was just priceless.

Funny side note: The little dude wore his #11 Edelman jersey to school for about a month straight after that.

Wife: "Son, you can't wear that shirt to school again."
Son: "Mom, it's a Jersey and dad said if I change the shirt I'm wearing underneath, it'll be ok"

Couple that with what the Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics have given us and to say we are spoiled might be an understatement.

This is kindof, sortof the way I think about the Patriots.. and why I have complete disdain for those who will make blanket statements like, "Cheap Bob Kraft" or "BB does not know how to draft" or "We are doomed for the following season because of a March Football decision"..

We have it very good here in NE, very, very good and whenever I travel and get beyond the initial disdain because of the lies of the NFL, most folks I encounter are envious of our success...

Not to mention the 18-1 team that may be the best football team I will ever witness, that (tragically) History is likely to forget.
Put the 2007 team at full health against any other team in history at full health, and the 2007 team wins. I feel privileged to have witnessed that team. We will never see another team dominate like that in our lifetimes.

The 20 years have been so dominant that the Patriots are now like 5th place all time NFL win loss ranking.

NFL win–loss records - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Out of all the great stats the pats have put up, THIS is maybe the most mind-boggling of them all, to any Pats fans that go back to the 60's , 70's, 80's, early 90's. They had flashes here and there, in the 60's with nance et al, mid 70's teams were great, '85 was awesome despite getting blown out by da bears. but all those years with all those clowns running the team? letting 2 of the only 3 Patriots in the nfl hof go(buonicanti and haynes)? rod rust? billy sullivan? how about playing a HOME game in birmingham alabama due to sullivans incompetence? being the laughinstock nfl franchise? (yes, young dudes, we actually used to be the Jests). so the last 20 years was so dominant that it overpowered 35previous years of a lot of bumblin and stumblin to be 5thh all-time in win-losss pct? amazing

and honestly it is really just 2001-present that represents that real turn around. 1996-2000 they are about .500 regular season win loss. 2001-present Pats are something insane like .750 winning %
