Patriots Release Dominique Easley

Isn't the answer obvious ?

No, it's really not, unless the cops are on the way to his house right now.

If the 49ers could swap mega-bust AJ Jenkins for Jonathan Baldwin, or the Saints swap Jonathan Sullivan for Bethel Johnson, you'd think the Patriots could have gotten something for a guy who was at least a highly effective sub package player when he was healthy. Hell, they got a 4th round pick for Laurence Maroney from the Broncos, who had to have seen a guy tap-dancing on their screen for the past three seasons. If they cut Easley merely because he was a headache, taking on a higher cap hit in the process, that's like Bruins-level asset management.

Don't think that would be enough grounds to dismiss a player. If Easley had done the biting, that would be a different story.
Man bites dog ?

This just sucks. Not sure what else can be said. One of the biggest first round busts in recent memory, the only worse ones in terms of time lasted on the team I can remember are A.J. Jenkins and Trent Richardson. And even Richardson had perceived value for a little while longer.

Johnny Football

I can't see that being the issue, the way this was handled. Pats dumped him and left the rest of the world to speculate. If it was health related and something like Fibromyalgia, I would have expected a press release with it wishing him the best and offering their support.

They waived Kyle Love when he was diagnosed with diabetes. When they waived him it was desginated a non football injury/illness designation. I wonder if Easley's waiver came with any special desigination?

The answer is obvious - no-one offered anything. The reason may be mysterious to you and me why not but the conclusion isn't.

I asked the question about drafting Ealy rather than taking Easley who went to IR 2 years in a row on this forum and got attacked like I was an idiot. Just want to remind some of you who are so sure they know everything.

Holy ****. What a moronic post
I knew once I heard the news that someone on Pats fans would post something like that.

That they'd see Brady/Belichick ---> Trump ---> Muslims ---> Easley ---> Discrimination, get rid of him.

Some conspiracy of that sort.

Someone bake this man an entire sheet of cookies!

I would consider Easley a bust.

But I perfectly understand why people want to separate out players from beneath the "BUST" label who clearly would have made it in the NFL but for injuries.
Yep, I think the label is too simplistic. Too bad some can't cope with such a suggestion.

If that was the case, then why not wait til the draft to try to deal him when he could be a pot sweetener for a trade up? You're probably right, for what it's worth, I'm just flummoxed.

I didn't say I had a reason for you. But unless he's about to go to jail, I am willing to reasonably assume they tried trading him and found no takers.

Holley following up on his source info:

One word mentioned was 'lazy'.

One can infer from Easley's twittter that he has (or thinks he has) fibromyalgia. That controversial diagnosis could be behind this. **Speculation**

I'll chime in with my own level of disappointment: sux!

Thats not it. He played in a 3-4 at FL.

I just hope he didn't harm anyone. The team does not need that.

Yea and even if they were switching to a 3-4 and that was the reason, you could easily trade him to another team for some draft capital...

Very anxious to see WTF this is all about

I actually liked Ealy too but I was also very high on Easley. The latter of which I was very wrong about too.

Nonsense. Could have grabbed a 6th round pick for the collection, then moved 87 of those to move into the first round. I'm thinking Bill had a stroke.
