Patriots Release Dominique Easley

I really really really hate to say I told you so, but I absolutely HATED this pick from the get go, and received a ****load of flack for it when I said so on draft day (or the day after). I started to believe I was wrong during last season when he was looking good, but unfortunately it turns out to be a HORRIBLE pick now.

That being said, there HAS to be something going on behind the scenes. He JUST hired some new agents the other day, which turns out to be his 3rd agent(s). Something weird is going on. MAYBE he wasn't working hard to rehabbing his injury ? Who knows ?

Not that anybody right behind him has become an absolute stud, I only see three guys picked in the 2nd round that have wound up better than him, DE Kony Ealy was picked almost 30 picks after, WR Jordan Matthews was picked about 10 picks after. WR Allen Robinson was also picked 30+ picks after (great pick !), RB Jeremy Hill was picked 20+ picks after and WR Jarvis Landry was picked 30+,WR Devonte Adams as well. All would've been considered reaches at that time, though I believe Ealy had a 1st round rating. Considering WR was a weakness, some of those guys wouldv't looked good in Patriot blue.

Oh well. This was a big miss, unfortunately I was right, which when it comes to BB making picks, is not very often.

At the very least if someone will claim him we wont be on the hook for his cap charge. Right?

Still on hook for prorated signing bonus. Not any guarantees in 2016 salary.

#doggate is on. What should the punishment be? Repeat offenders for spygate and murdergate and for fangate (where a fan swatted down a pass in the 60's).

Vellano leapfrogs Easley, Hicks....

You would think they would have tried to trade him, at least. Jonathan Sullivan was a big, lazy, utterly useless football player whose best highlight was eating a hot dog in the press box during the game and the Saints managed to extract Bethel Johnson for him. No great prize there, but Easley at least has been good when he's played. You'd think he'd be worth a late-round pick or another team's bust at least.

He was a poor pick at the time -- even if he was a top 10 talent, two major injuries and not having payed his senior year should've dropped him into late second round.

4 injuries in 4 years -- he's lucky -- getting cut he keeps his signing bonus and made a nice amount of money for doing nothing over 2 years.

A lot of people here disliked the pick, for various reasons.

Memo to Ishmaa'ily Kitchen and Joe Vellano: Next man up!
With this situation, regardless of the 'why', Easley becomes the first true "Bust" taken in the first round during the BB era.
True bust? When he could play he was damn good, but he was never able to get past his injuries. So I'd call him a big reach instead of a true bust. To me a true bust is one who doesn't have the talent you projected him to have.
Pats always looking in the discount draft bins at bldg 19
That's what happens when you win your division 13 out of 15 years and 7 straight, you pick from the bottom of the bin.

If a team claims him off waivers then the Pats would be off the hook for his 2016 guaranteed salary, right? I wouldn't expect to hear any leaks from the team until after that process is complete.
