Patriots Release Dominique Easley

I saw DE dunking a basketball and doing other physical activities on Instagram this offseason, so it can't all be health related.....

The question is...........when did the team start to consider cutting Easley?

Good question. It's been an odd offseason on the defensive tackle front.

Remember how they were ready to let Siliga go since they didn't tender him at all, but then made a final push for him before he signed with the Seahawks? I figured it had something to do with Hicks leaving, since maybe they had thought they had a deal in place to keep Hicks and then it fell through, but I wonder if it wasn't something to do with Easley. There's also the quick signing of Kuhn that seemed like overkill when it happened after Knighton and now makes a bit more sense. My guess is this isn't something that just happened today.

Did it ever get resolved who the Patriot wanted for questioning in that late Ravens player's case was? I know there was speculation it was Dobson, but could it have been Easley, and how did the timing of that coincide with the timing of the Siliga push?

For those saying that DL has suddenly become the biggest need, keep in mind that Easley only played 25% of downs last year.

That's not to say he was useless, merely that they may feel they'll be able to replace a lot of that with the talent they have on the roster (e.g., Chris Jones).

This is not an injury. Big fail.

Wow, Easley didn't care about recovering and doing what's necessary for football? He didn't care about football in college.

Such a strange BB pick. All talent based.

At the very least if someone will claim him we wont be on the hook for his cap charge. Right?

I think you may be on to something.

Still though. Is that a reason to be cut? He didn't commit a crime....I think?

Well so it seems like he quit on football and didn't want a trade..

This is why I hate the age of Twitter. Conflicting Tweets, some saying that this release was football related and others saying it was for off the field issues.
