SPECULATION
The new contract will probably be worth $20K less the last one. Also, it will likely have an injury clause.

I'm pretty sure even late round rookie contracts become non-negligible money in late years, which is why I think I saw Chris Jones mentioned a couple times as a potential cap cut despite being a 6th rounder like Gaffney. So this probably gives him a contract more in like with the "UDFA/offseason only" type player he's turned out to be so far.
