The 49ers are looking to trade the rights to OT Anthony Davis....He is signed till 19 at a team friendly price...16 3.65 m 17 5 m 18 6.375 m 19 6.375 m ...Just off of a 1 yr retirement...Only 26... former 1st rd pick....

What do we trade to get him?

If true you know Bill will have some interest. Played for Schiano at Rutgers.

I think any deal would probably include Vollmer. Because if he's trading for Davis then he is trading for the starting RT for the next 4 years and Vollmer is up after this year.

One of the guys who quit on the team changes his mind, and now the team doesn't even want him...it's new coaches too, so they shouldn't be mad.

Which brings up the question. Belichick has openly admitted to wanting guys who are passionate about football for his team. Would this guy, who took a full season off voluntarily, fit that mold?

He missed 0 games from 2010-2013.

And looks like he missed 7 games during the season of 2014. Knee injury was one reason for the missed games.

He claimed that he retired to get healthy and vowed to come back but have a feeling that it had more to do with the disfunction the organization was/is going through.

I'll be filing for reinstatement to the NFL later this year. Dealing with Trent is giving me a headache.

Normally I'd have no interest in someone who left football of their own accord, but I think that 49ers situation was even more dysfunctional than we realize, and he may have been more injured than we know. He did say even at retirement that he needed a year to recover and he'd be back. If that's true, this may be a great opportunity to snatch up a talented young guy long-term on a good contract at a valuable position.

Luckily for us, Belichick can lean on Schiano for insight here. If Schiano greenlights trading for him, I'd be a-okay with it.

Was this trade available before the Jet's snagged Clady? Mighta made more sense considering their cap situation.

Trading for Davis and cutting Cannon would cost us barely any cap space.

We would have our RT of the future for reasonable cap hits through 2019. Vollmer could be a heck of a swing tackle in his final year here while a rookie is groomed as his replacement/4th tackle.

Davis is probably better than any tackle in the draft not named Tunsil/Stanley. Do it.

Davis paid back the remaining portion of his signing bonus when he retired. Is he willing to play again even if he doesn't get that back? If he thinks a new team should pay him $4.66 million up front, then that changes things in a hurry.

Agreed and I add another point, the fact that he quit doesn't necessarily means he doesn't like football. Without the facts it just means he took a decision, and young men take decisions and regret every time. I respect someone who takes a decision and regrets. A reasonable decision of course, not a stupid one. Sometimes it doesn't go like we expect.

There are plenty of players in the NFL that doesn't like football and doesn't quit for many reasons, probably money in 95% of the cases. This is the type of player that BB will avoid at all costs.

Haynesworth, Moss, even Bennett disagree completely. I have known one of the young, recent retirees due to concussion concerns and trust me, that kid loves football. Health is significantly more importantly than worrying about what the fans/keyboard warriors think.

Davis can play, and I think he could play both guard and tackle. If they can get him for a reasonable price, it would be very stupid to not consider it. Offensive line concerns would be significantly lowered with this move.

Well the problem is it is impossible to know how committed he is. I do know BB hates player who decide for themselves when they should and shouldn't play so i doubt he bites.

Spot On...

Moss got his chance...

Disappointed to see this isn't the Pelican's Anthony Davis.
