Arrogant or Just suffers no fools?

I agree, I always thought that he was drawing the focus and criticism away from the team and onto himself, and it worked perfectly as he was getting ripped and mocked throughout the media and the team was able to get focused and go on a run.

Have always contended that, for as long as they view BB as some sort of villain the rest of the team can go about their business..

He also has intense disdain for the superfluous rules of the NFL.. he wears a champion branded John Hopkins hoodie(NFL coaches are supposed to wear Nike Branded clothing), he does not want to speak about triviality and the media hates him.. the press conferences are NFL mandated and he views them as a complete waste of time..

The "FU NFL" tour continues and I expect it to be more defiant than ever..

He's the GOAT and he's both well educated and someone who informs himself when he needs to know about something. Much as I respect him though I think he can be a **** when he wants to be and definitely comes across as arrogant at times.

I like the fact that he suffers fools poorly. And yes there's arrogance. That arrogance cost him and us fans dearly in ignoring the camera placement memo of the new fool commissioner. Big mistake on his part.
I would not change a thing about BB.

"meet the old fool, same as the new fool".....

I like these descriptions of Belichick, which come from the Halberstam book, The Education of a Coach.

The first quote is from a Boston political columnist by the name of Joan Vennochi, who rarely wrote about sports. Belichick, she noted, wasn't "glib or glitzy. At press conferences he sometimes seems a little goofy and is often way too grim. But he is a leader without the swagger, selfishness, and pomposity that so many men in business, politics and sports embrace as an entitlement of their gender and position."

The second quote comes from Peter Richmond, a writer from Cleveland. "What's interesting about him, and was judged a weakness in Cleveland, was that he did not play any games. There's nothing fake and there never was. He is what he is. There is no pretense, and he is utterly authentic in a world where, because of television, there is more and more which is inauthentic. What's troubling about all this is that a lot of people are more comfortable with the inauthentic, if it is reassuring, than they are with the truth, if it is not reassuring. He doesn't play the role of the coach. Instead he is the coach."

I'll be honest, I never have liked Belichick as a person that much. And if it weren't for his championships, I have a feeling ya'll wouldn't like him either LOL

Nah, I'd still like him.

I like authentic world class assholes.

Why else would I visit this board?

:)

I think it's funny that people judge BB by his news conferences instead of his expertise in his position as HC of the Patriots where he excels.

I would be shocked if he care what a sports columnist thinks of him, because he does judge them by their field of expertise, and finds them sorely lacking!

I don't think that's what they say.

I wouldn't know....:eek::D

EDIT: @Ross12 Get it?? Ignorance is bliss..... "I wouldn't know" I thought you would have caught that. Some moderator you turned out to be. :D

There was not a more arrogant coach than Parcells. Not only arrogant but condescending and trite. The media loved him because he pandered to them. Ask any media person about Parcells and they would say he was great because they were/are dumb enough not to notice he was playing them. That was one of Parcell's few positive 'qualities' as my own personal opinion of him as a person is lower than whale****.

Well, you would be wrong about me. I like genuine people, not phonies. Character and integrity is much more important to me than a backslapping, jolly sideshow caricature who needs 'friends' to validate himself.

I think it all stems from when he was the HC at Cleveland and Modell announced he was moving the team to Baltimore. The media attention on the players and the team was too much and the team faltered, winning only 1 game and losing 6 after the announcement was made.

He saw the damage the media can do, so he schools his players on how to deal with them. He shelters his players from the media spotlight and stonewalls the media, turning the spotlight on himself. Spygate and Deflategate just reinforced his dislike of the media. He has stock answers that cover the majority the questions that the media asks. Ask an intelligent question about the game of football itself and you may be surprised by a long, detailed, well thought out reply. There are a few media he trusts and will do interviews outside the mandated press conferences.

Yet his persona and non answers has become a media event that rivals Rex Ryans verbose over the top style.
His "We're On To Cincinnati" has become a catch phrase that's been repeated long after it was originally said. At the AFC breakfast meeting, who else could garner media attention at their table on the off chance that they would even show-up. He shows-up and his actions garners millions of views on YouTube. He says little and reveals nothing but he is a media rock star.

Huh? Your post confuses me. You seem like you're recovering more than from just being a Cowboy at the moment.. o_O

All I know is it appears girlfriend Linda helps keep that man human ... God bless her.

The man was born a computer ... flat paint ... no chrome.

If he weren't the head coach for my favorite team I wouldn't be able to stand this guy. And I can certainly understand why non-Pats fans do hate him. I think it's great though. Besides, we get to see the "other side" of him on shows like Patriots All Access (when Zolak asks relevant questions) and get to hear him on WEEI weekly. He is so much more engaging in those avenues and venues instead of a post-game press conference or podium session.

I do think it's hilarious that BB's stratagems are starting to creep up on other teams throughout the league like "On to ________" or "Do Your Job". Guess BB isn't so wrong in what he does is he?

When and where did you meet him?

In relation to what? How he handles the media?

Where did you get that video. It goes so quickly that I can't be sure it is a Patriot and that it is Brady. How was it doctored to show Brady sacking Manning?

As they say, " uneasy lies the head that wears the crown." When you are in charge of an organization or a business and have responsibilities, you have to make tough decisions, not always popular. You go with your gut and it is easy to criticize from the outside. Actually, his management philosophy is brilliant and empowering to let people, " do your job" but the message as he said is , " do your job well."

Disagree.
I was never the one to like the hale fellow well met class president Eddie Haskell types.
Instead, I liked those who eschewed popularity while having substance. That's BB.
