Kraft is becoming an embarassment every time he opens his mouth

Since coaches and owners so quickly defend football by deploying the "football builds charter and teaches life lessons"……I have to ask why these high moral creations get arrested so often….especially when compared to other professional sports? Too many hits to the head?

I thought Kevin died from ALS?
Which he believed as brought on by football-related concussions.

He has donated his brain to the CTE investigation, so we will see what we will see.

I have always said my entire life that playing football teaches character.
We agree on that, which is what I think was the essence of what Bob was trying to say.

Lawrence Phillips and Aaron Hernandez played a lot of football. Guess they missed the life lessons and character-building.

I'm not going to act like I'm any kind of expert on the subject but more and more are making a connection between head trauma, ALS and CTE. At this point I thought it was commonly accepted. Turner believed so himself.

Ex-NFL, Alabama FB Turner dies of ALS at 46 (ESPN)

After his diagnosis, Turner was active in research looking for links between the degenerative brain disease CTE, ALS and head trauma related to football. He started the Kevin Turner Foundation to raise funds for ALS research.

He said he was sure football contributed to his condition and became a lead plaintiff in the massive lawsuit retired players filed against the NFL regarding concussions.

"Football had something to do with it," Turner said in 2011. "I don't know to what extent, and I may not ever know. But there are too many people I know that have ALS and played football in similar positions. They seem to be linebackers, fullbacks, strong safeties. Those are big collision guys."

Shut the whole thing down! Burn the NFL. All contact sports, MLB Baseball, Pro wrasslin', women's soccer & the WNBA too. Just... ah... not necessarily in that order. :)

But, when Kraft says it, he's an evil embarrassment.

You both want to completely ignore that he said "worth the risks". We don't know what the risks really are, in large part because he and his buddies have been downplaying and obscuring the risks for the past 20+ years. How can he say they are worth it? On the same day that Kevin Turner died, no less. Do you think KT thinks it was worth the risks? His 3 kids?

he owns a 2 billion dollar football team. he does not care about roger goodell or patriots fans you dont get to be a billionaire by caring about peoples feeling, he is just a business man i dont agree or disagree with him but your never going to make every one happy so he fellows the money

Well, ban the sport.

I don't wake up every day looking for a way to bash Kraft. what he said was not outlandish. I don't believe he is the one altering research, is he?

Wouldn't bother me any. Watching these scumbags see their billions turn to ashes in their hands would be the sweetest thing imaginable. Maybe some of them can go to jail too!

Did he personally alter it? No. Does he know about and approve of the general strategy of deceive, inveigle and obfuscate? Of course he does.

Playing football can build character, playing football can also cause serious brain injuries. Bob Kraft, who makes billions off of other people playing the game shouldn't be the one saying it's worth the risk, especially when him and his co-conspirators are desperately trying to hide and distort information regarding the subject. To say it on a day a former Patriot died at 46 years old from a something with a connection to head trauma just makes him sound like an *******.

So, you're on a football board supporting football talk because you want to ban football.

Interesting preoccupation there.

Well, more specifically, NFL football. No, it wouldn't bother me at all. It's what they deserve, IMO.

As an ex-fan, I'm still interested in the topic, just not from the same perspective.

This discussion reminds me a lot of the smoking discussion several decades ago. To suggest the owners have the players' interest at heart is the height of naivete. The NFL has acted in direct opposition to player interest.
Players of Turner’s vintage and earlier weren’t provided with the information that repeated blows to the head could leave them addled, depressed, suicidal or too weak to squeeze out toothpaste. Rather, the NFL insisted there was no evidence of danger and that -- near as they could tell -- everybody was safe to play even after being concussed.
Turner's life and death carries meaning, poignancy

By all means, ignore what I said, and make something up so you can have a witty retort.

I don't recall comparing the risk of head injury in the NFL to womens soccer.
I don't recall endorsing the NFLs bs response to being exposed for manipulating the concussion and CTE issues.

So are you saying that you think womens soccer is as risky for head injuries as NFL football and that you agree with Krafts position that the NFLs response to being exposed by investigative journalism is that they did nothing wrong?

Not sure how you think me posting about Kraft ignorant comments regarding brain injuries ON THE DAY HE FIRST DISCCUSED THE TOPIC could be obsessive, but I don't think accuracy had anything do with your post.

Exactly.
It is a decision for everyone who wants to play football whether the injury risk is worth the (imo vast) benefit.
Denying science, lying about frequency of head injury and comparing NFL football to women's soccer WITH RESPECT TO THE RISK OF CONCUSSION is ignorant, and given his position, almost criminal.
