The 6-foot-1, 183-pound Washington played for the Houston Texans last season, starting 14 games and totaling 47 catches for 658 yards and four touchdowns. Because the Texans, coached by former New England offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, run a similar offensive system to the Patriots it adds a layer to the personnel evaluation that the team doesn't always have.

Hot damn, that's good news!

Given how late in FA we are, I doubt he's expensive. Good signing IMO.

Depth, doubt it's more than a one year deal with no downside I'm somewhat surprised because while his ypc is good his hands aren't great.

I think he'll thrive, relative to his age. He's proven he can produce in this system so I could see him being a reliable 4th or 5th option. 40 or so catches.

Good signing. At least now, even if we don't draft a WR ( I hope we will), we still have solid depth there.

Really interesting signing, and really interesting offseason FA/Trade-wise for the Pats. All positive signings/trades, 2 WR, one TE, one all purpose back and an O-Lineman all point to the Pats fixing some small, but key offensive woes. Health will always be the key, but I really like what they've done.

So...

Brady
Garopolo

Gronk
Bennett
Williams

Edelman
Washington
Hogan
2/3 of Martin/Amendola/Dobson

Lewis
Brown
White
Bolden
Devlin

Solder
Vollmer
Cannon
Waddle

Stork
Andrews

Mason
Jackson
Kline
Cooper

Still need 2 true RBs, IMO, could use another OT and OG, and I'd still like a better OWR, but it would seem that the offense is mostly set with this signing.

Pushes Dobson and provides insurance but I'm still hoping they can draft a WR that beats out both of them.
Dobson was probably gone regardless.

Too me Jules is obvious number 1. After the competition should be interesting.

Hogan obviously has a role and I would assume Nate does too. You don't sign them without something in mind. They obviously have to fit in first but assuming they do that's 3 spots filled but pecking order still in the air. That still leaves room for DA to stay or to draft someone too and they all can compete behind Jules.

Even without the rook and without DA Gronk, Bennett, and Jules give you enough that Hogan and Nate should round you out pretty good.

So just from a numbers perspective we really just need DA or a Rook for depth they obviously compete too and likely could easily beat Washington or Hogan.

Well, he did burn Malcolm Butler that one time.

Hard to get too excited about Nate Washington, but he's been quietly productive for a decade. He's had 40 or more catches every season since 2008 and averages over 15 yards per reception across his career. He actually averaged slightly more per catch than DeAndre Hopkins did on the same team last season. A short-range slot receiver he is not. He's strong competition for Dobson, and I'd favor him in the early running. Hard to hate a guy like Washington as your fourth wide receiver.

Great signing. Solid, hard-working vet.

Now let's sign Fairley and resign Blount & Brown and we're onto the Draft!

FINALLY some news. I have been in withdrawal.

Solid signing but it also would not surprise me if he is cut but i would not predict it.

Also I assume this spells the end for Dobson. I by cutting him they can save a little but not much.

Hopefully he contributes and doesn't go the way of Michael Jenkins (signed here after being a solid contributor elsewhere for years much like Washington, even started OTAs/training camp with the starters, but was cut early on anyway).

Hey, you guys remember when this was the worst off-season ever and BB didn't care about winning?

It's understandable if you don't, as it was way back in the year About Two Weeks Ago.
