Kraft "trying" to get 1st round pick back

some brightly lit bulb mentions how many of goodell's arbitrations end up in court.........how many of those involved owners?

that's not how the owners operate and that's not going to be how they operate..........people need to grasp that, and either watch the sport or don't watch the sport, but it's time to move on

I don't fault you on your position but do you see any owner that would be better than Kraft?
Are we giving Kraft too much credit? Where would he be without Belichick, and what other owner would be considered successful if he had just hired BB and let him do his job.
To me the credit Kraft gets for the success of the franchise is that he hired BB and left him alone.
When you add to that the poor support Kraft provided in these 2 'gates' you could argue that he detracted from BBs success.

And this deserves 8 pages??? Goodhell is called a fool around here but I think we all know who the Real fool is the one masquerading as the Patriots owner. So he accepts a fantom punishment Willing gives our picks away for no known reason and now he wants them back??? I think we all know that Goodhell have moved on from bend over Bob.

The most amazing thing about this thread is that flasox hasn't posted in it yet.

@Ian. Do I really need to put up with this guy. This is ridiculous. He is following me around from thread to thread posting crap like this. This is not what this place is supposed to be about and if this is OK, I'm done here.

It's not supposed to be post after post of anti-Kraft rantings in every thread either, but that doesn't seem to deter you.

And apparently he wrote the letter at the end of last season. You mean to tell me it took him THAT LONG to realize the impact of not having a 1st round pick???!!! He'll have a better chance of getting Rosie O'Donnell to lose weight then get that pick back. What a waste.

Sanctimonious much?

After it became clear to Kraft that Goodell screwed him in regards to Brady and announced that they'd randomly spot testing the balls at half-time and after games, Kraft could have easily have decided to wait for that information to be released so he could use it to get the picks back. It's very fishy that the league, despite the memo they sent out, didn't actually keep the information. The only reason you don't keep that information is that it proves that the Patriots didn't do anything.

So, I don't find it odd that Kraft waited until the end of the season because mountains of evidence have since piled up against Goodell proving that he was wrong. And that doesn't include the Appeals..

Understatement of the day: Kraft is catching flack.

My question to those that are not Kraft fans: If you could swap him for another owner of the other 31 teams, who would it (if several they) be?

Personally, I think it would be much easier to get worse

I don't think he could have gotten, the picks back, the bigger issue to me is continually endorsing Goodell. All he had to do was say no comment, instead he says "Good Job." it makes no sense.

Basically it's doing more of this:

Wouldn't surprise me if they release info with fudged numbers.

There isn't any info to release. According to Vincent and Goodell, they didn't record the info..
If I'm the owners, I wipe out that memo and slap it down on the table in the 1st minute and I'm like "WTF do you mean you didn't record the information". You sent out this memo..

Any one whose team hasn't lost 2 first round picks this century for manufactured "cheating" scandals and then turned around and endorsed the ring leader of the conspiracy to frame the team.

I don't know Andy. I know that Kraft hired Parcells who took the team to a SB. I know Kraft went after BB and gave him control of the team. I know that he has, for most part, stayed out of BB's way unlike Jerrah and a few other meddling owners. I could go on but this is a "what if" argument and would rather concede that it is possible that Kraft is getting too much credit but you would have to admit that he deserves some.

I have to go to work Andy. Good discussion. Thanks.

Edit: Incorrect about the Parcells hire. d%#*!@t. Keep forgetting that.

Yeah, not really.

It's not like the end of the season was 10 months ago. It was 2 months ago. All that information was readily available to be used before he took it upon himself to write that letter. Why does it take until now for John Q. Public to find out about this letter? This is the offseason. The only people who are devoted into paying any sort of attention to this never-ending saga are Pats fans. It would have made a lot more sense to:

A) Not say anything about ****dell at this week's meetings (especially not unprovoked)
B) As soon as the Pats' season ended, write a Whammy of a letter and IMMEDIATELY release it to the public so that it's on the tip of the tongue during the most important week of the NFL season (Super Bowl)

Either one of those I would think wouldn't be too hard considering everything that has occured, but I guess I'm wrong.

Kraft didn't hire Parcells, Orthwein did. Which means Orthwein is actually more responsible for first bringing BB into the fold than Kraft.

Definitely Hunt from KC for one.

You're using the same tactic Kraft is using presupposing he's the reason for their success. He is not, Brady and Belichick are and he's allowed his business partners to frame them both as cheaters.

Do you honestly think there's another owner who after being blessed with probably the greatest player/coach combination in the history of the sport would allow them to get railroaded and framed like this? He does not have the Patriot's best interests at heart. He continually sides with the NFL. He's as bad as Goodell is in my eyes.

again, sounds like you need to move on........why are you torturing yourself......if you hate the dude that much, you're selling yourself out very cheaply to support his product.......

So, when someone says the exact opposite of what you think they're saying, you tend to totally reverse what they say? OK, then Robert Kraft is the best ever, and Illegal Contact knows what he's taking about.

IN YOUR FACE BABY!

That quote by Hannable doesn't provide the true context of Kraft's quote..

Here is the entire quote from Curran:
Curran: Bitterness, regret shows in Kraft's Goodell comments

Tom Curran said:
Which is why, when asked how things stand with Goodell now after 10 years on the job, Kraft said, “Putting personal situations aside, I think he’s done a very good job. He’s worked hard. The health of the league hasn’t been better. We have our issue that we don’t think has been handled well but it is what it is.”

It's clear that by "personal situation" that Kraft means the situation the Patriots find themselves in, not personal as in Kraft himself.

Kraft didn't hire Parcells, Orthwein did. Which means Orthwein is actually more responsible for first bringing BB into the fold than Kraft.

That's right. Thanks for the correction.

I don't fault you on your position but do you see any owner that would be better than Kraft?

Yes. Kansas City's, San Diego's, all the owners that appealed, or any owner that fights for his team.

Why the hell did Kraft even mention the stupid letter? Kraft picked sides in this thing early on and he sided with his partners in the league and not the fans.

And Bob, we don't want you to move on. We want you to express your indignation every time someone sticks a mic in your face. We want you to publicly question why the league did not study the PSI over the season, like they said they would.
