Josh Gordon wants out of Cleveland

This is a really interesting proposal. I think we could have the start of something here, especially seeing what Cleveland is trying to do. I'd be willing to bet they hold off for a 1st round pick for Thomas, but I'd like to explore this.

Didn't Denver just try to bring him in at the trade deadline last fall, or am I thinking of another one of their OL?

If it was Thomas, who I think it was, I believe that the Browns actually turned down a first round pick from the Broncos. I'm pretty sure they wanted a first round pick PLUS an additional higher round pick.

I still don't see the reason for CLE to trade Gordon under any circumstance. He's one of the most talented young WRs in the league on a cheap contract, they're not going to get equal value so might as well keep him.

The reasons they may need to trade him.
1. He does not want to be there. The team suspended him for the last game of 2014 season, when combined with the league suspension earlier that year he lost an accured season toward his pension and Free agency. He will never re-sign there and will be a locker room distraction to the new coaching staff.
2. they need an infusion of talent. If he is suspended again, all value is lost. they should get what they can now as SF should have traded Aldon Smith instead of just letting him go.

I do wonder if the Browns' new regime would value some draft picks more than a talented guy who, though he has a low cap hit, is one drink away from being gone and does not want to play there. The new guys seem to be all about "value". They even held onto Manziel a couple days extra just to see if someone would trade for him.

The wild card is Hue Jackson. The team on the field is better with him. However if he gets the slightest bit queasy in talking to Gordon and his commitment to the team, the organization and super-dedicated to resolving his self-control issues he is gone.

Sounds like the Browns are open to dealing him

Brown and Jackson said the Browns are proceeding as if they won't have suspended receiver Josh Gordon, and will deal with it if he's reinstated. In the event he is reinstated, "we would need to see where his head is at before you bring him back into the locker room.''

Brown said with Gordon "it's not going to be about words, it's going to be about actions.''

It sounds to me more like they are saying they want him to prove he can be a good citizen slash team mate

"we would need to see where his head is at"

His head is at "I don't want to be in Cleveland"
Based on some of his favorited tweets lately, his head seems to be in New England.

Is there any chance he gets traded to New England and at this point what would you give up for a hungry motivated Gordon?

Browns EVP of football operations Sashi Brown said the team is proceeding as if Josh Gordon will not be on the roster this season.

• Jackson said he can only worry about coaching the guys who are here.

* Brown said with Gordon "it's not going to be about words, it's going to be about actions.''

• Brown said Gordon is not part of the Browns organization right now, and therefore he had no comment on him hanging out with Johnny Manziel.

I know just the thing to make him hungry..............

I don't care. We'll blatantly say it here at Pats Fans.

The league is stalling on Gordon's reinstatement decision in fear he'll be traded to the Pats. NYNFL at work again.

Why else are they jerking this kid around so long?

Knowing Belichick's history 50/50. The big positive is that Gordon's problems don't stem from violence or trouble with the law which would rule Bill out.. It's substance abuse.

A couple of 6th rounders. Still 1 mess up from being gone for at least another year. Maybe throw in a conditional 3rd round pick in '17 contingent on him playing 12 games and ending the regular season on the active roster.
