That is one of, if the best deal of the offseason.

King's true calling is writing puff pieces. I wouldn't trust a fact that he posted cause facts aren't really in his wheelhouse.

He can't even get the contract $$ right. My gawd...

2 mill..that's it? I have he has been in decline but i am sure he could get double that elsewhere

He's the one person who actually meant it when he said he only cared about winning. I have low expectations of him but maybe playing in a rotation with our guys is just what he needs.

Plus he's an aging white male which I think is a fitting tribute to Donald Trump's coming victory over Hillary Clinton.

ok, now we got something to get excited about

The #Patriots deal for DE Chris Long is 1-year, about $2M, source said
Lol I was told my guess of $2.5M was way too low but it turned out to be too high... I was guessing he would take a discount to play for us but he really did. I bet you someone like Dimitroff & Dan Quinn would've paid him $8M a year.

don't know if you're joking, but the 1st guess was legit
if the 2nd was serious you are high

Lol no really I bet some GM would've overpaid him.

Bill Barnwell's take, giving the move an A:

"It's possible that Long is absolutely washed, that his career as an upper-echelon pass-rusher is finished after recording just four sacks over his last two seasons. I would be skeptical that it's time to throw in the towel. Long hasn't been healthy for most of the last two years; he's only played 717 defensive snaps over that time frame, which isn't much at all given that Long lined up for 839 snaps during his last healthy season (2013).

"Long's disappointing past two seasons really amount to one season of middling production; is it really crazy for a dominant pass-rusher to have a bad year (or two) in the middle of an otherwise excellent career? Think about somebody likeCharles Haley, who appeared to be on his way out as he hit 30; he had 10 combined sacks over his first two seasons in Dallas, only to produce an All-Pro campaign and a 12.5-sack season in 1994. It's too early to give up on a player with Long's history and level of production. Equally as important is that the Patriots are getting an absolute bargain, given that Long will make just $2 million in 2016. Not bad given that Olivier Vernon's going to be making just under $1.8 million per game. This is a low-risk, high-reward deal for the Patriots, and one of the very best deals of free agency."

Fox has the Super Bowl this year right?

Its gonna be cool to see Howie Long celebrate his son winning a SB on live TV!

Fox's super bowl coverage is much better than CBS.

One has to like the fact that while nearly all outside of New England were frothing at the mouth in the immediate aftermath of Mort's initial report of flat-out lies, Chris Long was one of the very few that was willing to publicly take a much more objective viewpoint. He was also ahead of the curve with suspicion on how ESPN was handling the story.

A Player's Take on Deflategate | By Chris Long

If you haven't done so already, I highly suggest everyone take a few minutes to read what Long thought about Framegate, long before the Wells report was published.
