Yea he was brutal.

For the Patriots in my lifetime you could say that the Sullivan boys were the GMs as they really hamstrung the personnel guys in Kilroy and Steinberg. Joe Mendes was a good personnel guy but a bad GM- however he was there when Kiam owned the team which was a **** show. Same thing for Notorious BIG Bobby Grier. He sucked.

Before BB, the best Pats guy at picking the groceries, in my recollection, was Chuck Fairbanks. That dude turned the Pats from an early 70's joke into a contender.

As director of player personnel, he technically may have been picking the groceries, but he got the shopping list from Chuck. Later though, he became GM, in the 80's, and built the team that made it to the Super Bowl.

They are so dominant in the offseason, I'm surprised the Colts haven't filed some false accusation against them so the league can sanction them and give everyone else a chance.

Starting with Julius Adams, the roster was all Kilroy type of players picked for Fairbanks scheme starting in 1973 which is why the same kind of players continued to be selected after Fairbanks left....the pats were consistently the most athletic roster in the league during Kilroys time as PPD as well as GM.
