Any relation between these two events, I wonder? Don't think Hicks is talking with the Lions based on their championship tradition, so we will see.

Hicks had the visits set up 2 days ago.. With the funny money thrown to Jackson and Vernon, it should be no surprise that Hicks thinks he can cash in. Wouldn't be surprised to see a 7M/YR deal go his way..

i like him but it makes too much sense for him to leave. It doesnt make sense to give him too much money when he is still behind Branch, Brown, and Easley. To my amateur eye, he is better than Derek Wolfe. That is the contract he will probably seek.

I liked him but, I dunno how teams are tripping over themselves to get him. He's not that great.

I wish we could keep him, he fit in well here it seems. Not to mention, I'm not confident Easley will last a whole season so we could use Hicks especially in that case. Let's hope Kearse is halfway decent. Too bad its Frank not Jermaine.

Not worried about DL depth to be honest. No, Kearse isn't Hicks but he does provide versatility up front along with good size. Plus last season the Pats used DEs in DT positions to get speed/pass rush on passing downs. Don't forget about a guy like Grissom who had the Easley fill-in role pre-Hicks trade.

u are forgetting that they sign Joe Vellano to future contract, Who need hicks if thez have vellano

Hicks should be starting somewhere, and it's not happening here. I wish him many millions somewhere in the depths of the NFC.

Kearse is not only not even half-way decent, he's not even a 10th-way decent.

Kearse provides absolutely nothing, as did the rest of that post.

How about paying attention to the games instead of crying every 10 secs about something BB does (or doesn't do)?

Pats have a history of signing inferior players who are shaped like the free agents they want, then signing the star player. Ron Brace for Wilfork, Marquise Hill for Seymour.

He hasn't signed and he could be leveraging the Pats. Hope so. they certainly value players with his size/athleticism.

Him not signing makes me think that he has a particular dollar amount in mind and he is waiting for someone to match it. I doubt that the Pats will match it

I am sure some team will over pay for him...just holding out hope....for him to return... I dont blame him for taking the highest offer.... players go to crap teams to get over paid...but come to the patriots to get rings....

Akeem Ayers didn't exactly set the world on fire with St.Louis. If you're a smart team, you look long and hard at Patriots players acquired during the season. I cant think of many (if any) who go on to set the world on fire elsewhere. That's a credit to the New England coaching staff. They know what they need and how to coach up the talent.

good for them to get paid though

Just like Ayers anither good mid season pickup that performs well on NE and leaves in the FA. While the Pats also benefit from this half year rental, they should try to sign 2 year deals sometimes, if they trust they can turn a player around and in some cases seems very likely, give a little more money in advance and retain that players service a little longer.
