I like McCarron. I think hes a solid backup. Doubt Cinci is looking to deal him.
Yeah I think compensation would be hard to line up. I don't think teams would want to give up too much for him being unproven and I don't think Cincy is looking to let him off easy. Would be a nice pickup for Denver.

Is Streater the guy on the outside because isn't Hogan a slot guy?
Looked up his pro-day numbers:

Height - 6023
Weight - 193
40 Yard - 4.46
20 Yard - 2.54
10 Yard - 1.60
Vertical - 37 1/2
20 Yard Shuttle - 4.07
3 Cone - 7.06

Going by these numbers I'd say he's more on the outside. His numbers for the short stuff, 10-yard dash, 3-cone, are all slower than Hogan/Edelman/Amendola.

Here's the thing.

Look at the teams who make a big spash in free agency every year.

Now look at the teams who don't.

Look at the teams who are playoff contenders every year.

Now look at the ones who aren't.

Barring an occasional anomaly, a pattern emerges....

The pattern is that the teams who are playoff contenders every year have a franchise quarterback. Teams that make splash in the free agency doesn't so they try to compensate this deficiency bringing impact players from other positions. It's still a quarterbacks league so having a great QB is better than having the best RB, DE, WR and CB in the same team without a decent QB. The correlation between making the playoffs and spending or not spending top dollar in the Free Agency is non-existent.

No that's not entirely true.

There is definitely s correlation between free agency spending and making the playoffs.

Spending big on free agents ususlly doesn't work out.

I have huge expectations for Malcolm Brown.......talkin' all-pro caliber

He absolutely has the potential. There is no doubt. Just gotta see how he develops. It took VW about a year and a 1/2 to 2 years to get to an All-Pro level. For Seymour it was about 3/4 of a year to a full year.

He grew pretty well in his first year. Excited to see him this year. And Easley back.

closing on 3000 posts and no signings
i think this is officially the most masochistic forum known to man

Hopefully fitzpatrick won't sign in denver. They could win quite a few games with the talent that would be around him.

This dude is really a knuckle head. So many options for him and he wants to go for the worse?

Is the issue that SF/Kelly don't want him or he doesn't want SF/Kelly?

CLE isa QB graveyard. They don't have many weapons!

I am enjoying the madness some of you are displaying even though the Pats do this every year. They let other teams overspend for inferior talent while they sit back and wait. Pick off the scraps that no one wants.

The GOAT QB is making 14 million this year, while Joe Flacco is making over 20 LMAO.

One of the best WR in the game in JE11 is making 4 million a year, while 2nd and 3rd string WR making 8 hahahaha.

Patriots have and are doing it right , there success proves it.

The only way this off-season is a bust is if they can't lock up a couple of the 4 big FAs upcoming.

I would have liked M Jones or Sanu or Forte or Ivory, but other than Forte, not at those prices. Kearse was never leaving Seattle, I expect, which is why his name wasn't in the mix with anyone.

yeah, you can spend big money in FA and get a ring - Denver - but consider that Denver was one stupid fumble by Pittsburgh away from losing - and look at where they are now.

Yep, talent matters. So does luck, including injuries.

I like it a lot better the NE way. We get players we like and don't have to watch them revolve in and out. I was thrilled the Celtics won a championship when they brought in Garnett and Allen, but I enjoy today's Celtic team more because I'm watching them grow up into something special.

The Pats NEED another WR (two would be great), but they don't need to move JE down the depth chart in the process. They need an RB, but Ivory's contract will be dead money in 3 years.

Other than that, I'd like to see an interior vet (I would have loved Osemele, who could kick out) on the OL, and other than that, retain Hicks if the money isn't stupid, and if an opportunity for a true upgrade is there - Weddle, McClain (I would have loved him) - pull the trigger.

This was clearly the best team in the AFC last year if healthy, and both of the closest, Denver and Cincinnati, are weaker now (and both had great health years until Red went down).

Priority one: extend Hightower.
Priority two: extend Collins.
Priority three: extend Jones.
Priority four: if he's still playing well mid-season, extend Butler.

If fans had their way we'd be the fins, spend big on free agents we don't need every off season just to be flashy.
