They were never going to give Forte the ball 20+ times a game. That is why they did not bring him in. That and his age were factors.
Forte was never going to be a Patriot because of Forte, not because of the Patriots.
The role he wants was not here for him, unless you want to cut Dion Lewis.

Interesting stat about Kearse:

The Seahawks had a 126.1 passer rating when targeting Kearse, fourth-highest in the league among wide receivers.

Jesus fcking Christ. Are we going to do ANYTHING in FA?!?!
Wait, is free agency over?
Maybe the overpaying part is, but why you want to participate in that confuses me.

well I’m going to miss Mo and his trick plays and occasional wildcats, but truth be told, he had the chance a couple years ago to step up and prove himself when everyone else was hurt and he didn’t.

Good point. This is better. But not by a whole lot.
Oh no. By a whole lot. I can't stand Talking about deflate gate anymore. But that's just me.

I read your entire response. You're moving the goalposts, and your argument is horrible. You're much better than that, on both counts.
No I am not. He's not getting 15-20 touches every game and that's why they are not paying him $4m.

Different players. Forte is a more physical durable runner.

It would seem to me that cutting/restructuring Amendola and cutting Cannon should be the orders of the day then.
Right. A team with only two reliable WRs on the roster currently should cut one of them.

hey, bill you have to pay market value if you want to sign players.
stop lowballing everyone...

belichick offered him a 1 year prove it type of contract according to sources.:p

Yes, you are. This is where you and I started:

According to who? The point of Forte was to give them more of a receiving threat who can run the football with a little more umph.

For $4m/yr is Forte really worth 15-20 touches a game?

You then proceeded to play the goalpost moving game. Also, to repeat, your argument is lousy.

Forte would have essentially replaced Blount, whom the pats reached out to a few months ago.
Yep. I think we'd all agree that he's a better player but the question is if the team would get $4m out of him.

I realize you think the end result of what you are asking for is silly, that's why I pointed it out.

You are saying in Free Agency we should be going after 7 million dollar a year players because our 4th and 5th WRs needed to play last year. You can't pay 7 million for a 4th WR.

You seem to not understand that when you use all of your cap and you have injuries and that means backups had to play, it 'cost you a SB' it was because you had injuries and no one has starting caliber backups. You seem to think it 'cost them a SB' because they couldn't figure out how to have an extra 30 mill of cap space to sit starters on the bench until injuries happen.

No they need a borderline number 1 outside receiver. If the games this year told you anything is the Pats can be shut down offensively if they don't have an outside guy that defenses need to honor. Don't give me Dion Lewis. I base all my planning off of the idea that Lewis will not be there for the post season. He always gets hurt so what will change? If he is a available it's a bonus. So, without Lewis what was this offense? Average against good defenses, borderline average against great defenses. Defenses that could play the flood the middle and still get to the QB. What solves the flood the middle? A Lafell type or even better in reality that demands better than a #3 DB and can go up and grab a ball.

Bill is in Alabama right now getting ready for the draft. And caserio was at Rutgers.

What does that have to with it?
The Patriots were not an option for Forte because Lewis is here and Forte does not want to share the load.

I would agree if he was healthy, he produces in-game in the Giants' offense. The problem is that he has chronic knee issues, which make him unable to hold up to a regular practice schedule. The Giants compensated for that by closely managing his practice time the last couple of years. They could do that because he's had enough time in the offense that he knows his role fine.

Now try putting him in the Patriots' offense with that same limitation on practice time. The Pats' offense is difficult for WRs to pick up under the best circumstances, so I think Randle's inability to put in anything close to a full practice load is a dealbreaker for us.

Good points. Perhaps you're right about Reuben Randle.

What about Jermaine Gresham? People keep wanting the 2 TE attack again. I think he can be had for cheap. Hes also a rebuilding project that Belichick likes. If not him maybe Jared Cook

Where exactly am I backing off my OP?
