Amendola is a bargain compared to some of these deals, so I dunno what cutting him would accomplish.

He'd be a bargain if he would restructure. He isn't worth a $6.8m cap hit this year and a $7.8m next year

Still a chance?

Our biggest moves the last two years weren't on the first day. Silence at the very beginning is nothing new.

Many people dont understand that the healthy Patriots dont need much.. One RB, one WR, one TE and LB for depth ... The other ´´needs`` are for guys who will play 10 snaps or less every game

I would rather restructure him, personally. But he makes way too much for what he's brought to the table, 2014 playoffs aside. I suspect that's at least part of the reason for the interest in Hogan.

I think the injuries have taken a toll on Amendola. He's still a decent player, but he makes too much money for what he does. I consider him an injury-prone, adequate-when-healthy WR3.

That said, given where the WR market is right now, I can kinda understand keeping him at least for this year. Keeping him costs $4M more than cutting him, and I think his value isn't too far off of that $4M. Add in the continuity that he brings by having a couple years in the offense, and I get it.

I think he's gone after this season, though.

Wallace missed 1 game. He wasn't competing with Brown for touches as Brown had been on the team with him in 2011 when they both posted over 1100 yards receiving.

Roethlisberger missed 3 games and part of a 4th. 2 of the games were against Baltimore, one against Cleveland, and the game he was injured in was KC.

Wallace was held out of the week 17 game.

Not sure if you're agreeing or disagreeing with me here that there were circumstances why Wallace did not post the same numbers in 2013 as he did the previous year. Roethlisberger missing nearly a quarter of the season and Wallace missing other games when Roethlisberger was healthy seems to be a pretty good explanation for why those numbers fell off.

"Is he worth $6.8M?" isn't really a relevant question, though, because the answer isn't something that the Pats can act on. Cutting him carries a $2.7M dead cap hit, so for this year the appropriate question would be "is he worth the $4.1 that could be saved by cutting him?". That does ignore how cutting him this year would help next year's cap, but trying to keep a narrow, short-term view here.

To that, I still think the answer is 'maybe'. I think you can make a defensible argument either way, so I'm fine with whatever the Pats decide to do with him. When Marvin Jones is apparently worth $7M, and Rishard Matthews is worth $5M, I think keeping Amendola for $4.1M is a defensible proposition, given that he's familiar with the offense and Brady. I agree that he's likely gone next year though, unless the FA WR market goes completely nuts.

Sanu to Falcons..Knew he wasn't leaving ATL without a deal..would stupid not to at 7 per

Howe said to Paul P...WAit until you see money. AKA stupid contract

Yeah that Sanu deal is why the Patriots win year in and year out.

Kinda disappointed they let go of Tyms. I was hoping he could stick around for 1 more pre-season and prove himself.

Plus he's the last WR I can remember who caught a contested deep ball.

Yes. Just ignore the fact that Wallace's stats fell drastically during his final season with Pitt..

Wallace wasn't a conversion project. Edelman was.

Wallace doesn't run routes. He just goes and tries to get open.. It's one of the biggest knocks on him.. Yet you think he could be successful here?

Again. You and facts don't get along. Never have..

So you want to miss out totally the reason for the low numbers then. Wallace and the Steelers were going through contract talks and if I remember rightly he scoffed at the low ball offer, they then went and gave that same contract to Antonio Brown, thus giving Wallace the bird. So with this context.. one can see why his last year in Pittsburgh was the way it was. ;) His numbers were a fcuk you back. I remember a few times he let the ball just hit him in the chest. lol

Your argument then should be to get rid of Edelman and Gronk because you don't think they are reliable.
You can't get starters on the bench who will only play if there are injuries.
Every team has pieces that are less at the end of the season due to injuries, and they all play backups and don't have starters sitting around on the bench.

That's a ridiculous assertion.

No one is sitting here debating whether or not we should get rid of Gronk and Edleman, of course not. But the fact is that these two DO get injured very frequently, due to their style of play, and you need to be prepared for the worst.

Do you not remeber when Gronk got hurt three seasons in a row? We were relying on JAGs like Matthew Mulligan and Austin Collie. That definitely cost us a Super Bowl or two. Edleman has had his fair share of injury history himself as well.

Again, no one is asking for Julio Jones as our 3rd string WR. But replacing Harper, LaFell and Dobson for Boldin and Kearse is not out of the realm of possiblities, in the slightest.

Jesus fcking Christ. Are we going to do ANYTHING in FA?!?!

Well for starters, unlike most of the league, we haven't spent the first days of FA stepping on our own ****s with idiotic contracts. I call that a win.

But I've never understood this 'hurry up and overpay for mediocrity' **** people seem to be into around here.
