Is that 4-$40m Sean Smith to Oakland deal accurate? Because if so that's not really too bad.

malcom butler is going to get at least 12 from some team. i doubt bill pays him that much lol
janoris jenkins got 12m a year from the giants...

any news on weddle?? still hoping we sign him even though it wont happen.
we certainly have the $$$$

That's a great deal, and yes, it's being reported by Ian rapaport. Oakland may have just leap frogged Denver for that division. In fact they may be a top 3 AFC team.

I think Butler would gladly stay here for $10m/year

That's funny because he's been a great team player in Dallas. They treated him with the respect he deserved.
And why would he want to be in Boston when Julien had him riding the 3rd/4th lines most of the time, wasting his talent. The issue was/is that Julien is set in his ways and refused to adapt them to Seguin. He was essentially trying to put a square peg in a round hole. And when he couldn't do it, he told Chiarelli to get rid of Seguin. And Chiarelli did for an AWFUL deal.

This is correct. However I would add Cam Neely wanted him out as well. Julien didn't like sequin because he wasn't defensive responsible. It's the same with all the kids and happening to Pastranak now.

Chiarelli and Neely also signed players to awful contracts who have put the Bruins in cap hell for years.

I wouldn't say they've jumped the Chiefs (who I think are the top dog in that division now) just yet, but I think they will be in wild card contention this season. They're still young and maybe one more year away. But Carr to Cooper should be a potent tandem and they've made some moves to solidify themselves in the trenches.

I don't think they'll let Malcolm get in a position for some team to offer him anything. Personally I'd lock up Collins/High first (like, today) rather see Malcolm make actually some of the "next steps" that he was just a little behind on in 2015 (picking off the pass he gets his hands on, breaking up the pass he jumps a step too early for, a little sharper on double moves, etc.) before giving him a truckload of money. But if he would agree to something below this crazy market value right now I can see the logic behind that too. He's due $600k this year a big signing bonus at this point instead of waiting a year or two for it might be welcomed by him.

Would definitely pick him back up for cheap.

I wouldn't. He was a disaster last season without a Revis/Sherman on the other side of him. Let's just see what the draft holds and what Roberts has got. I really wish they didn't IR him as quickly as they did last season.

It's funny - They are miles better today than they were a few years ago.

Kansas City released Tamba Hali so their pass rush could take a hit. If card continues to improve they will be darn good.

Yeah, I think we all wish that. I guess they needed the roster space and didn't wanna carry a rookie for weeks, and didn't think that Tarell Brown would turn around and sustain a season ending injury just a couple weeks later.

What a f***ing crap year.

Yes but Butler can be his Revis :)

Hali resigned with KC.

Hali was re-signed. Remains to be seen how good the Chiefs are when they can't tamper. Obviously that accounts for all of their success.

Butler, at least in 2015, was given much more safety help than Revis was in 2014. Browner can be successful but he needs a safety shaded to his side of the field almost exclusively. If not, he's going to get burned and the flags will fly.

KC re-signed Hali to a 3 year deal.

(On Browner)

I would only pick up Browner as a charitable act in response to his amazing jam at the Super Bowl that facilitated Butler's interception. Otherwise, he is a walking/jogging PI penalty, and schematically limited.

I would definitely be aggressive in signing Butler now, given the ridiculous money flying around in free agency for CBs. I think they could get Butler in the same win-win bargain deal they got with Gronk: Butler is still early in his career, is an injury away from a very limited payday, bird-in-hand-versus-two-in-bush type situation. I think he has shown enough last year to warrant solid money and a medium-sized financial risk.

Anyone think Logan Ryan hangs around for another contract? I feel like he'll get paid and Pats can't afford to sign two CBs to big money.
