BB wouldn't pay Emmanuel Sanders despite willing to part a 3rd round pick for him in 2014
BB wouldn't pay for Brian Hartline, Stevie Johnson, Percy Harvin, etc. in 2015
BB wouldn't pay for Marvin Jones, Travis Benjamin, or Rishard Matthews in 2016

BB clearly admits WR is a need, but won't pay market value for it. Eventually he may have to come up from his 3-4 million floor for a WR2.

I thought Belichick liked Harvin.

Hello Bruce this is BB lets make a deal
Michael Floyd We have a certain pass rusher who may interest you
He refers to himself as "BB"?

Edelman salary could be an issue. But Bill cleared the WR cupboard and the pickings are slim.

I want to know where we were at on money difference.
I think we need to make a trade

I'd rather 1 year of Jones than 1 year of Michael Floyd. Jones is better at his position than Floyd at his.

Don't worry about it. This is a great and deep draft for WRs, with a lot of speed, and the Patriots can just take one with their first round pick.

why the hell did we cut lafell loose if we can't sign anyone? wouldn't have made more sense to sign someone and then cut him?

I think Floyd ceiling is a top 20 receiver Chandler Jones ceiling is a top 20 pass rusher.

Yeah i am all set with the rest of the FA WRs. Okay let's look at some RBs. Who would you like to see? Pats have come off of Powell. I would just take Blount back and be fine with it really

A 2nd rounder, especially a high 2nd rounder, would do a lot more good than a late 3rd rounder which is likely to not amount to anything.

Not that I'm advocating for trading Jones (although I think they should), but the "they get a 3rd rounder" thing doesn't make sense. 3rd round picks have a low success rate, you're much more likely to get a Geneo Grissom, Jake Bequette Shawn Crable, Taylor Price or Kevin O'Connell than a good player. How many good players have the Pats - a good drafting team - come up with since Belichick took over? Logan Ryan, Duron Harmon, Stevan Ridley, Nick Kaczur, Ellis Hobbs are the best ones.

Chances are that 3rd round pick will never contribute in a meaningful way. So the equation is really one year of Jones or one year of Sheard full time at RE + a 2nd round pick (though I think Jones fetches more than just a 2nd rounder). Long term, trading him - given Sheard's presence - has more value. Even just for 2016, there's a chance you get similar value from Sheard + a 40% chance of a good player in the 2nd round.

The difference between Mr. 45 and Mr. 70 is not that great. I'd rather have Chandler for one of the last years of Brady's career.

We waited eons for someone to man that position; year after year of constant complaints. I don't want to see that guy leave too soon when we have him here playing on a short contract.
