Dude, Denver is gonna get a f*** load of comp picks next year.

Okay, I don't even know who this guy is, and he's getting forty million dollars.

He's good. Not great, but good. Makes me very happy that we signed McCourty long-term last year (for just $2M more per year).

Here's the fun part, though: it's based on free agents signed minus free agents lost, as long as they qualify.

So what that means is: if they lose four FAs at $10M+ and sign four qualifying FAs at $1M each . . . no comp picks. :D

[ETA: Actually, in that case, they could get a single 7th-round comp pick.]

If they're smart (like the Pats) they'll just sign a bunch of guys cut by other teams so they don't count against them for comp picks.

That was one of the most underrated parts of the Revis signing. Since the Bucs cut him, he didn't count against our ability to get a comp pick for Talib.

That makes some sense, they really need a safety over there.

In New England Weddle is a luxury. In Pitt he is a necessity

Yeah, at this point, it would not shock me if one of these teams doling out ridiculous money to good to middling talents sign a few of us posters off of Patsfans for multi-million dollar deals. :D It's the only logical next step.

Luxuries win championships.

Yep. Rodney was a "luxury" when the team still had Lawyer. Little did we know BB was fixing to cut loose of him.

One offseason where they earned a boatload of comp picks it seemed like they made a deliberate attempt not to sign any qualifying FAs, only ones that had been waived by their old teams.

What exactly was the point in cutting him at that point when they couldn't use the cap space for much?

Sounds like a deliberate attempt to skirt the rules and undermine the integrity of the game.

The Broncos defense is so good they could pick up any qb off the street and they would still win the SB.

The most number of comp picks Denver can get is 4.
They will only get comp picks if they sign fewer eligible UFAs than they lose. Remember, players that they cut, like Vasquez, don't count.

The saved money on the 2003, 2004 and beyond salary caps but cutting him. They may have taken the newly available space and did some extensions. Not sure. Would need to look.

Patriots release Milloy; Bills interested

Are these insiders ever right about Patriots interest? Because Bill sure as hell isn't leaking it.

Actually, he posts all his moves on MyFace but nobody checks his page.
