Anquan Boldin wants out of SF/go to contender

Boldin wouldn't be the outside solution I'd be looking for. However, with the state of our WR corps right now we need multiple new receivers. Can give him a call at least to check him out in training camp - if he wants.

Future looks bright with Tre Flowers and Jabal Sheard
I don't get where this confidence regarding Flowers is coming from. He's shown absolutely nothing till now. Yeah, he dealt with injuries a bit, but even when he was halfway healthy he didn't see the field. He looked good in a couple of pre-season games, but even guys like Tyms or Thompkins looked good in pre-season and then did nothing afterwards.

Point is, it's far too early to pencil Flowers (or Grissom) as something special you can rely on. Right now we have three safe options at DE. Jones, Sheard and Ninkovich (who is also a bit of a question mark with his age). Trade Jones and we must sign another potential starter at that position.

I get what you're saying, but what we need in this offense is a WR who is physical, smart, proven, and has experience, much more than another "speedy" Tate, Price, Jackson, or Dobson.

Our scheme is predicated on quick, timing routes, with the occasional shot downfield. I'm guessing that a guy like Boldin could do that just fine, particularly since we just saw guys like Llyod and LaFell do it well enough to lead us to SB appearances.

I'm not saying that they shouldn't continue to look for the typical downfield, outside WR threat (if that even exists in this particular scheme...I'm not even fully convinced at this point), but hell yes--a guy like Anquan Boldin would have a place on this team in enough capacity to snag 60+ passes, as well as offering a nice RZ and 3rd down/possession target.

I would kick the tires to see what he has left and attach him to the "Howmuchdoeshewanttoplaymeter".. however very reluctant to spend anything above the vet minimum for a receiver who will be turning 36 in October..

this team doesn't have a pretty history bringing veteran receivers, the only success stories that come to mind are Deion Branch and Moss.

Would love this signing. Bet he'd come cheap. Isn't he known as being a smart guy? Curious if any of his offenses are similar to the Pats'.

Even as I bang the drums for the idea of Boldin, I admit this is true. They tend to be on the "one year too late" side of veteran big name WRs. Galloway, Ocho, Wayne, Holt, etc some never made the team. But I wouldn't want to miss out on someone who could be a good piece just b/c others have failed.

Andre Johnson is toast. I'd take a chance on Boldin though, he could fit that "david givens" role.

LaFell? Lloyd? Amendola?

Big fan of Boldin. Two or three years ago, sign him up.

Now, it's just too late in his career. 36 in October.... it COULD work out, but in the end, I would rather have a young guy on a 3-4 year contact learning the system and getting better.

Then I think of Boyce and Dobson, and I throw my phone against the wall in frustrathg ddgjj fdhhh f th issdg j uhh fg

Bolden is nice, but we have Edelman and amendola as possession receivers. I think we need to add speed to our WR core.

Sounds like a reliable pair of hands....but can he separate?

Is he biding his time or just no interest from teams?

While there's not going to be as much interest in him as in previous years, he did just catch 70 passes this season, so I'm sure someone will be throwing around offers to his agent. He claims that he wants to play for a contender, so maybe it's a combo of being selective and still fielding offers?

Lol you dopes still falling for the "wants to play for a contender" line?

Only on Patsfan
