Given his cap hit very disappointing that Cannon wasn't cut. He is not worth close to a $5m cap hit. Tender Waddle who is a RFA and will cost a lot less.

Cannon will account for almost as much as Vollmer's inregards to a cap hit

I am somewhat concerned about our wr situation. Learning the playbook isnt as hard as gaining Brady's trust which at times seems impossible. Look how long it took Amendola(? future) and he seemed to have a firm grasp of the offense from day 1. 1 injury and we're back to 06/13(entertaining overachievers who run out of luck in the afccg).

Not like Brandon Lloyd or Brandon LaFell came in and immediately produced or anything....

Hilarious that you think what the Pats have for WR right now is what they will be going into the season with. Nice chicken little talk

Spygate happened after Welker and Moss were signed.
Memory is the first thing to go. I need me some avocado ice cream and a Patriots history book

I don't know how anyone can look at the WR group and not see an issue with it. It is a definite need this offseason.

Actually I think it will need more than one off season to fix this mess,, the lack of investment in the position for years has reached a critical point.

perhaps Waddle needs to be signed first

2014 says you are wrong and it isn't even up for discussion

Uh that's what I said. But cutting Cannon shouldnt be based on if they think they can re-sign a RFA. Cannon needs to be cut or restructure his deal.

Man, that's unbelievable. This might have passed Arrington as the worst Patriots extension in the Belichick era.
It's not that bad in the sense that they can get out of it. Cutting him saves $3.2M at a cost of just $1M in dead money. So it's basically their option on whether they want to undo it.

You would think they would but Scar likes him so who knows.

trust the hoodie.
I guess so. I anticipated both Chandler and LaFell would at least be back at camp to see if they could redeem themselves while healthy. These moves suggest the Patriots must have something cooking with free agents.

It won't be if they correct it by cutting him and freeing up $3.7m

FA or the draft hasn't happened yet and people are worried about WR. Yes we need WRs we all know this. It's not like they won't adress it.

Maybe they are clearing cap space for resigning Hightower, Collins, Jones and Butler.

I think this timing is in line with BB theory to give experienced players that he plans to cut, plenty of time to find a new team.

This may be it. The Brady extension signifies that perhaps the team knows they have a few more years with the GOAT than previously thought, and thus can look to lock up their own high profile defenders, with the lessened sense of urgency. The cuts yesterday might play into this as well.

I am reluctant to give into the notion that the team will be big spenders in FA, but I feel that they could land one impact guy on a good value contract (a la Sheard in 2015) and shop the bargain basement types thereafter.

That impact guy could be someone like Forte, who seemingly is not looking to break the bank, and wants to win a Super Bowl.

The Patriots have released Brandon LaFell and Scott Chandler.

Guess there'll be some changes. Chandler was, obviously, a disappointment, LaFell didn't look happy.

$4M in cap savings.
Thrilled they dumped LaStiff. Think they underutilized Chandler. He could have helped them in the red zone, in short yardage situations. They never sought to exploit his height advantage.

Roddy White?

A lot of us were saying that at the time.

Brandon LaFaill and Scott Chandler supporters please defend yourselves.:mad:

Neither move were surprising. Both guys were costing far more in 2016 their value in 2015 warranted.

Really Rob some said LaFail could rebound to his 2014 form and Chandler was the best #2 TE in the League.:D This Forum confuses me.

Now I think we are REAL Players for WR Marvin Jones knowing we cannot draft them we have to pay to get one that's already established. I expect the Patriots to outbid anyone for his services Brady deserves him. Also I don't think BB - Brady or anybody here is depending on Aarron Dropson...anything we get from him is gravy but we are not depending on him.
