Brandon LaFell, Scott Chandler Released

time for Dobson to sh$% or get of the pot.

I hope to God we get rid of Dobson.

Come on...Dobson is a goner. It's over. The only reason he might not get cut yet is his cap number is fairly low, so they might just wait until training camp to see if he miraculously improves. Might as well with a former second round pick.

What we all didn't realize is that Scott Chandler's hands of stone only can catch footballs when he's wearing a Bills uniform. He was great every time he played against us, never had less confidence in a guy catching a ball that hit him in the hands when he played for us. No loss.

LaFell...never got his confidence back after the injury layoff. Bill must think it's terminal.

Disagree with those who want to cut Amendola - remember what our team is like without a slot receiver? Yeah. Depth is critical, but he's up for a restructure without a doubt.

Martin has some potential, but we need an X badly. But then again, we did BEFORE we cut LaFell.

the number they put up can be replaced by anyone so it could only get better we hope

As impressive as Dobson's highlights package was, the real problem with the pick (even though I was fine with it at time) was it was so freaking obvious it should have been Keenan Allen. Ah well.
Obvious based on college film, sure. That doesn't change the fact that he almost quit on the Chargers after he didn't earn an immediate role, and I think it's safe to expect that the adjustment period would have been even longer if he had been trying to earn a role with the Patriots.

I don't know how anyone can look at the WR group and not see an issue with it. It is a definite need this offseason.

BB is not spending 7-8 million a year on Marvin Jones. He will be greatly overvalued as the #1 WR in FA.

The rest of the FA class consists of fringe WR2s.

BB is not relying on a 2nd round rookie to start at WR, especially after the KT/Dobson 2013 mess and the 2015 OL rookie mess.

It has to be a trade. Otherwise, outside WR will be a underwhelming once again with the WRs available.

...said so many before Tom Brady ran out of receivers to throw to in 2006 and early 2013.

I think cutting these two is probably the right thing and we all assume they will be replaced by better players. But that's not always true, the characterization of production or contribution to the offense out of context as just a series of numbers that some other body will replace misses the point sometimes. Brandon Lafell caught more passes in 2014 than Moss did in 2008, ergo he replaced Moss' production. Like that.

Personally, I hope BB never drafts another College WR again and instead, buys them in Free Agency or transitions former College QBs into WRs. ;)

I swear if he thinks roddy or marquise is the solution yuck

Replacing LaFell with Colston isn't bad at all.

Even if LaFell was still on the team, the WR position was a top priority to upgrade anyways.

Grabbing Colston and either a FA like Benjamin and a rookie in the draft is a not a finished product, but a good place to start.

It would fit the Galloway/Ocho/Wayne mold as a signing

I'm not saying that's a good thing

Not to mention, it'd be a huge slap in the face to Edelman, who is making a bit more than half of that. That's the argument that (current Patriots employee) Michael Lombardi used for the Patriots not trading for Anquan Boldin in 2010, since he would have been making considerably more than Welker.

Boldin-to-Patriots deal had many complications

Edelman should get a bump in pay lets not handcuff our roster because were cheap or are too scared to upset another player.

Chandler for Calvin or Gordon
Any other receivers out there not being mentioned who are trade candidates?

Lets think outside the box
On another note god I wish we traded up for Kelvin Benjamin and drafted my binky Martavius Bryant we wouldnt have any issues.

Your argument for keeping Lafell made sense. I honestly thought BB was going to follow it since finding a WR to produce at a 2014 Lafell level at a 3 million cap hit will be nearly impossible.

BB's plan at outside WR is the most interesting offseason storyline at the moment. He decided that Lafell couldn't return to his pre-injury form. Randle/Boldin/Colston/White/etc. seem like disappointments waiting to happen.

Trade candidates:

Calvin Johnson: The Lions would get some value back for a player who refuses to play for them. They run a 4-3 defense and have no DE across Ansah. They have a need for a player like Jones. Johnson would have to restructure like Moss in 2007.

Josh Gordon: Been discussed here a good amount last few weeks.

Not much after that. The Cardinals won't let go of Fitzgerald now. Vincent Jackson? No thanks.

Megatron, Megatron, Megatron

Chant it with me.....

Clearing WR and cap space....

A week before the Lions have to make a decision on him and his 28 million cap hit

I do have to wonder if Megatron would be willing to take a big pay cut to play here.

We do have the Quinn connection in Detroit now...

Goodell would probably sh*t his pants.
