2016 NFL Combine Thread

Five I believe.

Sounds like Jaylon Smith will have his draft stock fall, he's unlikely to play in 2016.

Anyone interested in nabbing him in the 3rd?

Imagine him playing next to Collins and HT in 2017.

I'd imagine they'd take him day three if they are going to take him. I'd take him earlier if they cross of some needs in FA though.

To me in addressing needs its RB: FA, Forte
WR: FA (if we do anything here)
OL: vet guard (Mathis?) in FA. Tackle in 2nd round.
Which leaves me at LB: round three.

I'd still wait until day three personally. Albert Breer says that Smith's problems are similar to Marcus Lattimore's so there's a good chance he'll never play. We have plenty of day 3 picks so it's fine to risk one then but I wouldn't risk an earlier pick personally.

Even assuming Smith will recover adequately in a year, he is awfully light for LB in our system (he's listed @ 228# on NFL.com). We usually prefer 'em closer to 250#. I think they're are plenty of other options that fit better that don't have major injury questions.

Josh Perry, Ohio St. is so far my favorite LB this year. At least my favorite that won't go too early for us.

Lot of good tape from 2014 in perry. Less for 2015. Not sure how bb would process that.

Keep in mind he likely lost the weight from injury. Decent chance he could bulk back up to near that weight.

Compared to the testing results of develin he seems smaller but relatively more athletic. Wonder how he would be used here, don't think that size-wise he's a pure FB. Looks more like a TE to me, but I'm inexperienced so I might be wrong.

He's probably a special teamer first and foremost. I saw someone look at his combine numbers as though he was a linebacker and his closest athletic comparison was Luke Kuechly. I think you draft him as a special teamer and then see how he fits on the roster after that.

I see him as Move TE / H-Back - Hernandez was 6.2 245 right? Vitale is 6.1 239 Admit AH's 3 cone was much better, but this fellow could become a nightmare in Pats O

I watched one game breakdown and wasn't impressed enough to think he's a serious contributor. He doesn't appear to be much more than a Hoomanawanui type. A good route runner but doesn't appear to play to his athleticism.

So 25-30 snaps a game guy? I'll take it :p

Maybe, if you include special teams. But that is certainly day 3 value. He'll be on my Big board.

That first group of WRs were really slow. Shocked by Rashard Higgins running a 4.6. Pats tend to draft sub 4.5 guys so I don't know if many of those WRs will be in the board.

One draft sleeper for the Pats might be Stanford QB Kevin Hogan. Pats spoke to him at the Senior Bowl and Matt Waldman calls him a "beautiful mind". Throw in the Stanford connection and the dots start to connect.

I hate that my "sleeper" pick, Keith Marshall has blown up the combine and is no longer a sleeper. Marshall entered Georgia with Gurley and was as highly touted as Gurley. Marshall has hurt for two years and then sat last year behind Nick Chubb.

Marshall has the size, speed, and talent to be a great NFL back. I was hoping that he would last til the third day, but I don't think that is going to happen now.

Braxton Miller ran a 4.5. Disappointing for him but I'm pleased about that because he might not rise too much. He should kill the 3-cone and SS.

I think WIll Fuller might be slightly overrated, But the dude can straight fly. He ran right past adoree jackson, I want to see what he does with his other workouts
