It's a beautiful day

Belichick?

I ask this in all seriousness -- does Belichick seem like a committee guy to you? To me, BB is a real life example of the TV/movie character trope, "Detective who plays by his own rules, good at heart but disciplinarian, will ream out his guys in private but will defend them to the death to his superiors, thinks his superiors are empty suits who don't truly understand and should be grateful they have someone like him to do the dirty work, superiors hate him but respect how he gets the job done, the people he leads will take bullet for him despite/because of the tough love." Best current comparison is Mark Harmon's character Gibbs on NCIS, but there are loads of them through film/TV history. That's not a committee guy to me.

I don't understand why every team isn't required to have a representative on the committee.

I also think of this guy

As I understand it there are a couple of reasons why Bill does not serve on these committees

I have read somewhere that Bill is an intensely-focused guy on HIS job. He views these as a distraction to HIS job which demands 100% focus on making sure the Patriots and it's players are in the best possible situation to win.

The other reason is that he has no patience for the politics. He knows his place in the league. He knows he carries a ton of weight and believe it or not is widely respected by his peers. He also knows that he is detested by the NFL lackeys and some other GMs. He chooses to exert his influence only if he thinks it makes the game better and helps his team.

Fisher resigning from the Competition Committee brings a level of integrity* it hasn't had in a long time.

Phew, the Patriots dodged one. New rule was that the QB would not be allowed to get rid of the ball in less than 1.5 seconds.

Is this a move to get to 9-7 for once, Jeff?
I was going to say that with the move to L.A. and possible signing of Forehead Omaha, he'll have to remove all distractions to achieve 8-8 this coming season.

I don't understand why every team isn't required to have a representative on the committee.

I've always wondered this myself. Where's the integrity* in picking representatives from just a handful of teams to make the rules of the game? What's to stop the committee from changing the rules to give advantages to their own teams? (SEE: Polian, Bill)
