Uh oh, Peytie Pie might have committed academic fraud...

Unlike most here, I do not think Manning is some sexual predator who doesn't give a **** what he does to women. He was 19, it was an idiotic move on his part, but it was 20 years ago and he hasn't been in trouble for any other assault related incidents since.
The problem I have with the above is that even if we accept that he was a 19 year old acting like an immature idiot on the spur of the moment when the incident happened, he most certainly was not an immature 19 year old acting on the spur of the moment when he (and his daddy) tried to destroy the woman's reputation in print.

That's what I'm faulting him for though, is the way they've reacted afterwards. I by no means am defending Manning and his actions about the incident since.

Let's be hypothetical here: how would you feel about this situation if Manning did do what he did back in college, but instead was more remorseful, and willing to fess up to his actions? Would you, in an unbiased vision, still be chopping away at him for it?

I would be forced to give him props if he said he was wrong for both what he did to the woman and also for lying in his book.. I know full well that it takes guts to come clean and say you're sorry. If it's a half apology, lies again about mooning his friend and he makes excuses, it's no good in my opinion. He won't do it unless he is forced to. There is probably too much arrogance there, he's allowed the lies to be there for too long, it's harder now to go back and correct them. Unless he is forced to of course. And it would probably take Saxon going public and saying that Petyon is lying again. ESPN called him and they said he was very polite but he would not be discussing the event again.

I am aware of the new civil litigation. That is why I wrote "The suit is new, but not the story. " The underpinnings of that suit date back quite awhile.

The fact a civil case is brought does not make Manning's part of that story new. It is only a new civil action against UT based on its involvement in the handling of a number of similar claims. The new player, in light of that civil complaint, is UT not Manning. Hostile environment claims bring in history, and he is a part of the history. He is not the focus of the suit.

And the filing of that suit brought to light some things that had not been widely discussed previously.

I have been continually outraged by what Peyton is alleged to have done, since at least 2003.

I have kept the USA Today links in my bookmarks for over a decade and have brought up Dr. Naughright in discussions here about Peyton, on a regular basis, ever since I joined this forum, literally dozens of times.

There is no inconsistency whatsoever in my reaction, and I think many others here are in the same boat.

I had heard rumors, but until the King story, I didn't realize how bad it was. So the assumption that people knew all the details, and are just now reacting, and doing so irrationally, is false. In general, it is charitable to assume your interlocutors are behaving rationally, unless they give reason to think otherwise. I know that's hard to do in the age of the internet, but we are more of a family here than the average interwebs.
Most of the details were available at least 8-10 years ago.

What I do wonder is- if all the BS didn't happen to Brady this past year and deflategate never existed, are we still this enraged about this?
Seeing as how I was pretty outraged about this years ago, I'll say yes.

To me this is simply about a guy who's too arrogant to fess up for his mistakes he made in college. That's the fair point to question here. Let's not sit here though and act like he's Greg Hardy, though.
Well, there are the rumors that he's banging every chick he sees when he's on the road, but there aren't any lawsuits or women going on the record about it so I don't bring that one up. But it's does hint at a pattern of behavior.

Maybe it'll be Bill Cosby part deux in 2032 for Peyton.

Preaching to the choir....the backswell of "aw shucks, he was jus funnin' n' foolin' roun" is to be expected when certain segments of the NFL fanbase have their Golden Goose Boy revealed to be a total scumbag.

I'm left wondering how/why somebody should actually be given an entire college class credit for simply attending a one hour class, with a pass/fail based on nothing more than attendance.

Report: Did trainer also accuse Manning of academic fraud?

“It was a one-hour pass/fail class that was required of all athletes, and under no circumstances did Peyton Manning cheat," Tegano told the newspaper. "The class was based on attendance.

Maybe it had nothing to do with the class Tegano is referring to. Peyton recently donated $3 million to the school and had a dining hall named after Tegano in the process so I'm not sure he's a reliable witness. It seems like quite the coincide that the person Manning just spent a fortune honoring is the person that is vouching for him.

Peyton Manning donating $3 million to Tennessee

But , but , but, what about his 3.6 GPA that he was so proud of ?

gts.....gym, tan, sexual assault.

Outrage has an expiration date?

This is a silly argument but the weird thing is I would typically be prone to agree with you. In fact I've ignored a lot of the **** people on this board said about this incident because this board is so anti-Manning. I actually like(d) Manning, respected him as a worthy adversary.

But between the HGH thugs and this you start seeing a pattern of behavior which hints at a terrible character. That's why I'm outraged now, because there's more than just one event and there's been more details brought to my attention that color the event.

Changing the debate to whether or not I'm allowed to be upset now about it is a non-starter. I am upset about it now, end of discussion.

I think the issue for you is that you feel betrayed. It's like thinking someone is a friend and then finding out years later that they were playing you for a fool.

Luckily, I don't have that issue. I haven't cared much for PEDton since I first saw him get the royal treatment from the NFL.

It's interesting that the sexual Assault didn't prevent Peyton from going #1 in the draft. Jameis Winston had a sexual assault charge against him and no obvious harm to his draft position. It seems that things haven't changed much in the past 19 years. Football skills outweigh morality and victims of these entitled athletes are just collateral damage still.
