Would anyone kick the tires on RB Arian Foster?

There is ZERO chance BB pays 4 million for. RB, especially one who very well might fall off a cliff.

Seriously, what are y'all smoking? We don't use RBs lol 4 mil a year?

Good to see that the troll's come down from his $9m claims to $4m. I look forward to him eventually telling us that BB won't even pay the minimum salary for the position, as his trolling becomes more and more ridiculous.

Ummmmm....maybe if we had a good RB we'd use one. We never used TEs before 2010. Why did we draft Gronk in the 2nd round? We never spent big on CBs. Revis says hi. Name the RB we've had who's game is even remotely close as complete as Forte's. Maybe that will explain why we haven't spent on RBs.

3 years 9 million was my claim. His claim was 4m per year. Regardless, not gonna happen .

If saying they won't and shouldn't use that cap space on a 31 year old back makes me a troll, then fine. I'm just disappointed that you aren't able to have a disagreement with someone without calling them a troll. Shame on your mother

CB was a major problem for us and a major need, and we went out and grabbed Revis for one season at the end of his prime. Great move that not many actually thought BB would do, although he did make a trade for a good CB in Talib prior to Revis, so we all knew BB was trying to fix it.

Running back hasn't been a focus for this team in over 10 years.. That's not by accident. Say what you want, they just aren't going to make it a priority. They don't believe you need an elite name at RB, hence why they aren't going to go out and get the biggest name FA RB.

We won a SB with Blount, and Vereen. Pretty sure we don't need take a risk on an expensive FA who's 31...

Also, I think some of you need to educate yourselves on their cap situation. Still gotta save some for rookies, mid season moves, depth, and other places of need. There isn't that much to go out and blow in FA. But not many really understand that

If a $3 million cap hit for a RB with Forte's skills is what you consider expensive, then I don't know what I can say. We haven't gone after elite RBs for a decade because they were insanely expensive if they were available to begin with. RBs don't cost as much anymore and Forte has even said he's not about getting every last dollar at this point. We may not sign him but I'd bet my life savings Belichick is/will be thinking about it.

And you're the one that needs to look into our cap situation. We're in great shape right now, and that's with Amendola counting for over $6 million, which we know won't happen. Lafell and Cannon free up another $5 million if released. Extending Jones and Hightower creates space. I just don't see where you're getting the idea that Forte will be the only player we can afford if he signs here.

Disagreement would have been fine. You weren't disagreeing. You were deliberately trolling. It's not as if I was the only poster to notice it and call you on it.

As to the "shame on your mother" comment, thanks for reinforcing my point about your trolling.

This is just a general FYI reply since you just joined up in December. Most members of this board are pretty well educated in the arcane workings of the Patriots cap. Our resident capologist, Miguel, is often used as THE source for many media outlets in the New England market but there are numerous others here that dissect cap issues as well or better than anyone else extant in cyberspace. I suggest you look for any new threads started by MG or Rob on the subject. You won't be disappointed.

Just for the record....Forte was 29 a couple of months ago around the holidays. He has a December birthday, so he basically just turned 30.

If that reason alone is proof that we shouldn't sign a productive, hard working player, then I suppose we'll have to take a second look at Julian Edelman too, who turns 30 in a couple of months.

If the price is reasonable, there's absolutely no reason why they shouldn't try and sign Matt Forte, who can almost certainly produce nicely for another 1-2 years--minimum.

Would an OL that can run and pass block be a better answer than bringing in an overpriced old guy?

There wasn't 1 game last year where the OL was Solder-Mason-Stork-Jackson-Vollmer, which IMO probably is the best 5 especially for the run game

Blount YPC was actually good, btw

Better than Fortes...

So if you thought we needed an improvement that way, I'm not sure Forte is your guy.. We know Fostet isn't.

I know, Forte is a better receiving back. Still, Blount ran it better last year.

The point is having someone who can do both. It opens up possibilities on offense.

Let's look at this another way. You keep bringing up cap space. Who are you saving it for? Which player/players are you wanting us to sign instead that we'll take all the money we have?

Of all the new poster's here you are by far the dumbest. You have literally been factually wrong about pretty much everything. You can't even get Forte's age right and had absolutely no idea how good a receiving back he is. And you have no clue how the cap works, which is why you keep insisting they are up against it. They have no major free agents, numerous contracts they can redo to create space, and are already 13 million under it, saying they can't afford a 3-4 million a season player is simply ignorant.

LB, Safety, O line, D line, WR, TE...

D line is a need?

This is the deepest D Line they have ever had, it's the position of least need on the team. And they are also deep at safety, you have absolutely no clue what you are talking about. RB, OL, #2 TE, WR, and LB are the primary needs, and only RB and LB require starters.

I don't think we need a starting LB. Nowadays we play with two LB most of the time anyway. Aside from RB I'd like to have a starting OL, although I don't know about the availability/price. A starting WR would be nice too, right now only Edelman's a lock.

I agree they use 2 LB frequently but they still need at least 3 quality starters for 4-3 and 4 if they want to go 3-4 and to handle injuries. I'm not sure why but their LBs seem to get hurt more than any other unit on the defense and I would love to see them sign one in free agency and draft one.
