Roger Goodell "earned" $34.1M in 2014

I wonder if that's Goodell's compensation for the entire year or only up until they gave their tax exempt status? Once they gave up their tax exempt status, they no longer have to disclose Goodell's salary. This will be the last year you'll even know what he's being paid.

Can you political nut jobs take your opinions to where they belong?
I think you are overreacting. A couple of comments is not a big deal.

Poll the people walking out of a Bernie Sanders rally. 1/2 of them have given up and the other 1/2 are too scared to see what they can accomplish in life.

There's a reason why he's carrying the youth vote and not much else outside of that. I wanted to hold hands with everyone and sing "We Are the World" too when I came out of college. Then I entered the real world.

That said, I see the posts following this one and this will be the last I comment on this. As for Goodell's salary, it's a joke. There are plenty of other more worthwhile ventures to improve the play on the field and the game in general than this assclown's salary.

Maybe. Been my experience over the years that one thing leads to another...
Yes- it has.

With that said I've seen the blood pressure rise on this board when people argue that Jerod Mayo didn't live up to expectations.

Any politician that goes after Goodell will get my vote

To the title of the thread......For what exactly?

he could earn more....all he needs to do is turn around and I will give him a new boot ..

It's ridiculous that he makes more (way more) than the highest plaid player on the field. F him, F his office, and the owners for being too scared to fire him and stand up to him. Kraft.

It is not unusual for the CEO of a firm to make more than the top workers.

Not in the NHL, NBA, or MLB. We are not talking about some production line operation with drones churning out widgets on a conveyor belt. The workers are much more rare and talented than these lawyer/politician types that are essentially pencil-pushing bureaucrats who have never, and could never, do the job that the athletes do.

And his talent amounts to about 1/1000 of any one of the other commissioners. Just look at their backgrounds, and their actions: they have law degrees from NYU, UChicago, Harvard. He did undergrad at Washington Jefferson College. WTF is that is it even accredited? If so, maybe it should be taken away because they actually handed a degree to this hack.

Worse, just look at his actions/character with the refs, spygate, concussions, Ray Rice, defamegate, etc.. Goodell is the poster child of the Peter Principle. The NFL blew it, and continues to blow it, on their knees, every time his crappy face shows up to work. But they continue to make money despite him, so his job is safe for now.

The only commish without a law degree. Might explain why he keeps getting his *** handed to him in court.

fair enough

We have folks with lots of different attitudes towards free enterprise.

So, how much money are the owners making in the other leagues? Why should the NFL owners be guided by those leagues if they are making lots of money with their own compensation structure for management.

And yes, Goodall had a very bad year, and a $10M (25%) pay cut.

I am curious to learn why he made less in 2014 than he did in 2013, 2012 and 2011.

Clearly his package is not completely tied to revenue.

In 2011 the NFL's revenues were $8.82B and he made $29.5m

In 2012 the NFL's revenues were $9.17B and he made $44m

In 2013 the NFL's revenues were $9.58B and he made $35.1m

In 2014 the NFL's revenues were $11.09B and he made $34.1m

You are making this political, while I'm sying F Goodell he doesn't deserve to get paid more than Tom Freaking Brady.
