Jerod Mayo Retiring as a Patriot.

So there seems to be some confusion as to if Mayo is retiring from the NFL or retiring as a Patriot.

At any rate, I wonder if BB had one of those sit downs with Jerod and told him he is done and Jerod is thinking it through...just like with Bru and Troy

He was a beast when healthy. Tackling machine. I wish him and his family the best.

I remember a Jets game in his rookie year when he had 20 tackles. 20!

awww..c'mon...you don't sound older than 92...stop putting yourself down like this, I'm sure someone somewhere dislikes you for who you REALLY are...:)

Get off our lawn!

no...the real truth is DeSpazzolo Williams called up Jerod and told him to retire because Jerod hates Belechick so much and it's bad for his health...and Brady hates Jerod and is also a queer, so he'll only end up ratting out the "brutha" like the scumbag cheater, liar and deflater spyer he is...then again, maybe not...what the hell does a white guy like ME know....

I vividly remember we were looking for the record only to be disappointed that there was no official record.

His 175 in 2010 should put him in the top 5 of the unofficial list.

Didn't we just lose our LB coach? Could Mayo possibly transition into a coaching role instead? He has always been an intelligent player, he could be great as our LB coach.
I think that may be why he retired instead of trying to go somewhere else. There must have been a team willing to pay the league min for him, but he obviously has coaching in his sights and there is no finer LB tutor than BB.

Getting a little misty in here. I truly think he could play a bit more elsewhere because of his leadership qualities, but respect his decision to call it a day, after all those unfortunate injuries.

He should never need to look for a job, unless he wants to, as long as the Patriots are around.

Well you had Clayton Weishuhn with 229 in 82 and Nelson with 200 or so in 1984 so Mayo is right there with them. Being lucky enough to have watched those players Mayo was right there with them in his prime.

A great company to be in for sure.

Plus he has $40m in career earnings. He can sit on the couch and watch cartoons till 2082 and do just fine.

Thanks Jerod for your time here! Sucks with the bad luck with injuries the last three seasons but at least he got a ring. Also a strong leader in our locker room. Best of luck! :)

Plus, we need to maintain future rights to Chya.

That guy will be coaching in a year. Bank on it.

Now, all they have to do is announce the next LB Coach. Do they have to interview a woman first before they make a hire or is that for executive positions only?
