Super Bowl ratings were the lowest in years among adults 18-49.
CBS coverage of Super Bowl 50 earned a 37.7 rating and 47.9 million viewers in the adults 18-49 demographic, down 4% in ratings and viewership from last year on NBC (39.1, 49.7M) and down 5% and 4%, respectively, from 2014 on FOX (39.7, 49.9M).
The game ranks as the lowest rated Super Bowl in the demo since 2009 (36.7) and the least-watched since at least 2007. Since hitting 40.5 and 52.5 million in 2012, ratings and viewership in the demo have dropped in each of the past four years.
The 4% decline in adults 18-49 slightly outpaced the overall dip of 2%. Ratings fell even further among adults 18-34, with the game earning a 33.3 rating — off 7% from last year’s 35.8.
