I could agree and you could sign a vet RB as well, but you only can afford a middle level vet.
Forte isn't looking at a 10 million a season he's looking at 4-5 which makes him a mid level vet. The Patriots spend next to nothing at RB which is why they can afford to spend some money as unit cost is what really matters. If the top of the market was going to be as expensive as most positions are then it would be much more of a problem but at most we are talking about 12-15 million for 3 seasons, and the irony is that the same people who argue that's too much are now talking about Osemele, who will get a 45-50 million dollar deal, I.e... tackle money for a guard.
I like Forte and he's essentially the same age Dillon was when the brought him in, but I would be fine with any of the to RBs on the market, and if they coupled it with a good prospect it would be even better, I just think they need to address the position significantly or they will end up right back where they were the second half of this season with absolutely no one to run the ball.
