The more time that goes on, the more I have trouble rooting for Kraft

Maybe it isn't always about how do we win this thing? Maybe he should have just filed an appeal to the league and potentially sued the league, merely because it's about public opinion, and fighting tooth and nail, shedding more light on the injustice, just looks better than rolling over. He didn't even appeal the decision...didn't even appeal it! He would not even be able to sue the league because he opted not to even appeal the decision.

Many said that Brady was also crazy to appeal this decision, or at the very least, that he has very little chance to win.

Had Kraft appealed and then sued the league, even had the suit been thrown out, it would have continued to be a big deal, that an owner was willing to go to court against his business partners with scientific experts backing that his team was unjustly punished and that he was personally fined $1M.

AT THE VERY LEAST, he should have done what any owner with balls would have done, which is threaten to sue, threaten to do everything imaginable to make their lives difficult, unless the league was willing to at least agree to reconsider the penalty after the PSI recordings came back from this year...it could have been done privately. He clearly didn't consider this option either.

I don't think that most people realize just how F'd up this entire ordeal was. We are talking about one of the largest fines and penalties in sports history over a rules violation that did not exist, with data that did not exist, with a consequence that did not exist, based on purposely flawed science. Maybe Kraft could not have won had he sued the league; I'm willing to bet there are some judges out there who would be willing to give serious consideration to vacating the penalties based on fundamental unfairness. And yes, I realize he is part of the league, but Al Davis sued the NFL and won. It is possible.

Thank about it like this: what if Roger Goodell told Kraft he was fined $500M because his players were tying their shoes the wrong way? Absurd? Do you think he would sue in that case? Do you think he would go to court and refuse to pay the money, which is a huge chunk of his fortune? Of course he would, because the NFL cannot just make up violations and fine him...yes, my example is extreme, but at some point, it illustrates there is a line and a principle.

Goodell has the right to fine the team 500 million for shoe tying. Instead of spouting off, why not read the agreement between the owners and the commissioner?

They have no legal rights.

Oh, to the owners, Goodell can absolutely make up violations and fine a team or owner.

The owners agree to abide by any ruling of the commissioner when they join the league.

The players have a union, which is the only reason Brady was in court.

Robert Kraft says Patriots ‘won’t appeal’ Deflategate punishment - The Boston Globe

Patriots owner Robert Kraft, citing a desire to end “the rhetoric that’s gone on for the last four months,’’ said Tuesday that he will not appeal the penalties the team received as a result of the investigation into the use of underinflated footballs in the AFC Championship game.

Kraft and the Patriots had until Thursday to appeal the penalties handed down by the league last week: the loss of a 2016 first-round draft pick, loss of a 2017 fourth-round pick, and a $1 million fine.

Remember, Brady lost his appeal to Goodell.

I'm with you. The "Kraft should have sued!" crowd is ridiculous. I've tried to tell them that Kraft has no legal recourse in this matter but then they say "Well, he should have appealed to Goodell" to which I say did you not read the transcripts of the Brady appeal? Do you think that guy was going to reconsider his own judgement?

Am I not happy about losing a first rounder? Yep. But I also realize that there is NOTHING the Pats as an organization can do about it. Just use this incident to show you (and other people) how corrupt and biased the league office is. And warn other non-Pats fans you know to not have their team be too successful (at least while Goodell's in office) or this could happen to them.

Besides Bob Kraft, who else do you feel has performed so well in the past that it is forever inappropriate to criticize him?

bring critical is one thing.....everyone makes mistakes.....

making asinine threats to disappear once a certain thing happens is stupid childishness

such a ridiculously boring way to vent

reminds me of all the people who threatened to move out of the USA during the GWB presidency

Robert Kraft's biggest regret that AFC title game wasn't played at home

My biggest regret is that Robert Kraft is a schmuck who let Roger Goodell ream him twice, while not being enough of a man to stand up for Belichick and Brady in both instances. You know, the men who made him who he is today football-wise. Don't worry Bob, though, the other 31 love you and you do still have your money.

bob kraft has taken our team to 7 super bowls in 24 years. i think its a bit unfair to hate him....look at the Jaguars, Jets, Dolphins, Bills, Titans, Texans, Raiders, chargers, chiefs, cowboys, redskins, lions, falcons, vikings, cardinals...they have a combined 4 appearances in same time i think....

he ****ed out on the deflategate thing, but boo hooo. its bullcrap, and he was never gonna win it back.

there's a bunch of johnny-come-latelies who have no clue what its like to be a fan of a team that sucks.........the OP is right, though.........they will disappear when that day returns

I think we're finding out that they have a corrupt commissioner, absolutely devoid of honesty and integrity, because that's the kind of person they want for the job. The don't want someone who's going to get squeamish about lying to anyone who needs to be lied to, because then they might need to start operating with the integrity they claim rather than the reprehensible callousness and complete disregard for morality that they actually have.

When you lie with rats, you end up with fleas. When you need the rats badly enough, you pretend to be mad about the fleas, but you don't do anything to get rid of the rats.

I guess your only option is to go find another team

Tom Brady

I used to criticize him......
I used to criticize BB........

i don't criticize anyone on the Pats anymore.........in comparison to the previous years, the last 15 have been so awesome that I'm going to savor it until it is gone

Maybe I haven't made my point clearly enough.

Although I don't agree with the way Kraft handled defamegate in 2015 and crygate in 2007, that is not the reason I'm dumping the NYJFL. It's because of their intention to influence the games on the field.

ok.......goodbye

He wanted Goodell. He pays Goodell. He hugs Goodell. He apologizes for Goodell and blames his Lawyers. He applauds Goodell when he punishes other teams.

Yeah, there's nothing that Kraft can do....

Dementia is kicking your ass again, I see. You're boring me now. I'm done with you. Feel free to keep trucking, though. You're killing it in this thread.

careful, dude.......he's got 'issues'

I knew who you were talking to even though I have him on ignore

I disgree with almost every one of your assertions. I dislike your constant insults towards those who disagree with you.

I see no purpose in engaging with someone who is so convinced that their opinion is the only one with any merit and is so hostile to those who have other opinions.

I will continue to "disagree" and "dislike" your posts without further commentary, whatever tantrums you may subject the board to.

whatever floats your boat, but you do an awesome job of making my point for me

I don't believe Kraft had the opportunity to appeal. That option was not available to him.
Even if he knew he didn't stand a chance, Kraft needed to take a stand and support his player, organization, and fans. It was the right thing to do and he must have enough clout to at least make Roger informally reconsider his punishments. Unless you believe that the whole facade happened and the Patriots were justly punished then why would you see it any other way?

Look up AL Davis son, owner of the raiders, he still paying for who his father was.
Is that his excuse for his $hitty haircut? No, he's his own man yet he chooses to be his father's son and that's why they are inept...because he is inept.

So after 15 years of a successful marriage it's okay to cheat on your spouse? Some mistakes are that big.

If you want to cheat on your wife that's your business.
