The 2016 NFL Mock Draft Thread

He will never be the center for this team, they are 2 deep at C. What your not looking at is the Pats became a pass happy team and they put all their linemen in a 2-point stance for the entire game. Where Mason and Jackson are at their best is pulling and getting down field and hitting LB's. BB and Josh had glowing things to say about Mason, and I only see upside.

Go back and watch his youtube highlights.

It's true that both are better at pulling than blocking however everyone knew that at the latest after TC. And even when everyone was healthy we were a pass happy team.

I honestly think that BB & co. had different projections (maybe thanks to Scar's workout opinion) for how fast Mason and Jackson could develop into solid pass blockers and Googe could not deliver. This is why we didn't up the depth at guard when Connolly retired and Wendell ended up on IR and this is also what ultimately cost Googe his job. The final piece in the puzzle is that at the very end the unit could not even run block properly which except for a few tough Brady completions made us dead in the water on offense against a stout defense.

That being said, I trust BB & Scar and will stay cautiously optimistic about our OL for next year. I think especially Mason could develop into a very good guard. There will be a lot of pressure on the new OL coach.

Question for some of you. Draft day scenario. Say a player like Jaylon smith made it through day 1. At the beginning of day 2, would you offer Tennessee our 2017 1st round pick, and our 2106 3rd rounder to draft that player?

It would be a FU to the league for starters.

Just imagine a linebacking Trio of Collins, Smith, and Hightower. Man, that would be unbelievable.

This is kind of a moot point, since BB almost certainly won't.

I dunno about giving up a first, but I would definitely be intrigued by it.

I think Smith is too good of a talent to drop all the way to the second. A team will pick him around the teens.

But I think a LB group of Collins, Hightower and Smith would be elite. Most definitely. He'll allow Collins to roam around the field more.

So this is my first mock draft of the year. Im probably going to get all kinds of crap for not going with a single Offensive lineman. Personally I think our number one need is obviously O-line, I just think with where we stand to pick, the talent and depth in this years draft class, vs the free agent talent available, makes free agency the best route to go with on fixing that problem.

Pick 64.

WR 6’1 210 lbs. Braxton Miller, Ohio State

We all know the potential upside. He’s my favorite prospect. Unfortunately I’m getting the feeling he won’t be here by the time we draft.

Pick 97.

Xavien Howard

CB 6’2 200lbs Xavien Howard, Baylor

Tall athletic corner who has lots of room to grow. He could spend the first season being eased in and could replace Logan Ryan by his second season.

Pick 99

C.J Procise

RB/ST 6’1 220 lbs C.J Procise Norte Dame

I don’t think Procises is the best natural runner in this draft selection spot, however I do like his upside. He’s extremely athletic and fairly new to the RB position. Has played SS and WR before moving over to RB for the 2015 season. He’s also a very talented Special teams player. His upside is tremendous. In the worse case, I can see him replacing Bolden in the future. I see a player with a low floor and a high ceiling.

Pick 128

ILB , 6’1 240 lbs Scooby Wright III. Arizona State

Not the biggest fan due to my liking for athletic linebackers, however I think Wright has the natural instincts to squeeze in between Collins and Hightower and be very effective.

Another Undersized and not extremely athletic ILB I like is and think would fit real nice in-between Collins and Hightower is, Kentrel Brothers Of Mizzou. I doubt he would make it to this pick though.

Another option would be Nick Vennett TE Ohio State.

Trade 6th & 7th, for a pick somewhere in the 5th round.

Early 5th round pick from trade.

RB 5’10 215lb Kelvin Taylor, Florida

Kelvin Taylor Florida Gators career highlights

Pick 174.

DE/DT 6’4 280 lbs Charles Tapper Oklahoma State

A very versatile athletic player who was misused at Oklahoma State. I really like the way he plays hard and the versatility he brings.

Pick 214 (comp)

TE/FS/HB/QB

6’6 235lbs Tanner McEvoy Wisconsin

My personal late round project prospect.

He makes a good project at the TE position, but he also has lots of experience on both sides of the football. Worse case you also get a 3rd FS backup, or Safety project if he didn’t work out at TE

Pick 252 Comp

DT

6’1 298lbs Luther Maddy, Virgina tech

A undersized speedy DT, that could act as a good backup for Easley. I think Maddy is a very underrated player. He reminds me of a poor mans Easley, or a player that has the potential to at least be a Hicks replacement or substitute.

Do you have us trading down to 64? I'd be intrigued by an earlier round LB, as well as TE Vannett. I'm personally not quite as high on B.Miller as many here seem to be, and I've followed his career closely. I'd be interested in him much more if we decided to trade up into the 2nd with an additional pick, but I don't know if I'd want him as our first selection, that's all. He is quite raw.

Im starting to feel Miller is a boom or bust pick myself. I dunno how comfortable I feel taking him in the second rd.

No, I think its just a typo, Probably when I started writing it down before our season ended and Id had us at 64 naturally, ill edit it, thank you.

My main reason for not wanting a TE till the later rounds is, I think we axe Chandler, and search for our solution in Free agency. The FA depth this offseason is stacked.
Antonio Gates
Marcedes Lewis
Jermaine Gresham
Vernon Davis
Craig Stevens
Logan Paulsen
Benjamin Watson
Dwayne Allen
Coby Fleener
Rhett Ellison
Clay Harbor
Michael Hoomanawanui
Ladarius Green
Garrett Celek
James Hanna
Daniel Fells
Zach Miller
Dorin ****erson
Kellen Davis
John Phillips
Tony Moeaki
Allen Reisner
Robert Housler
Anthony McCoy
Richard Gordon
Chase Coffman
Bear Pascoe
Alex Smith

Id much rather bring a TE in, and draft other players. Im not to impressed with this years TE depth in the draft.

I like Tyler Higbee in the mid rounds. He looks a good athlete, but I think there might be durability concerns.

Here, far away form the main board and their knee jerk reactions I feel safe enough to ask.. I wonder what went wrong with Chandler this season. I honestly think that some people over exaggerate his catch issues as many passes that went his way were actually not easy catches. People nowadays are way to liberal with using the word "drop" anyway.

In any case, it felt like we never went back to using those multi TE formations that we all have seen at the start of the season (vs. Pittsburgh and @Bills). I can't believe that trading Hooman took those out of the playbook. Similarly, I don't quite understand why Chandler got less and less to do throughout the year. There were whispers from some beat reporters that he sustained a severe knee injury that he could never fully recover from but this was never proven.

I quite honestly really liked Chandler early in the season. Knowing his limitations I thought he performed as expected. Why he disappeared almost completely is yet another mystery that can be added to that strange second part of the season we witnessed this year.

His drop in production as the year went on echoed Tim Wright who also dropped off as the year went on. Maybe, as the pressure builds, Brady and/or McDaniels increasingly go to what they know and trust. I don't know.

I've seen a few mocks with Tyler Boyd dropping into late 2nd. I could live with a slight move
up to get him. Williams at 92. An OT with supple 3. Dahl, Haeg or Murphy. Whomever
Scar likes best.

Matt Miller's Post-Super Bowl Mock Draft

I'd like Osemele in free agency and Sanu. Drop Cannon, chandler and Amendola on offense.

If Scar is back on board I wouldn't be surprised if Cannon gets extended at a lower price tag. Scar really, really liked him.

Similarly I fully expect Dola to take a paycut and stay in Foxboro. He has shown his willingness to play ball in terms of contract last year.

If they extend Cannon, i hope Brady retire. Thats football not MMA. His lacks of talent is gonna cost Brady a lot. He gets hits almost 20 times every game.Cannon is really really bad. He is a terrible G, garbage RT, awful LT. Why bother go after OBJ if the line cant hold a 3 guys blitz for 1.5 seconds. They really need to upgrade T position. For 2 reasons: Vollmer is getting old and Solder is only signed for 2 more years... and the backup is REALLY TERRIBLE.

I'd keep Lafell. He had 74 rec for 953 yd and 7 td in 2014. PLus, a very good post-season. He got
hurt and sucked in 2015. I feel he can rebound if healthy. DA has been here 3 years. None anywhere
near as good as Lafell's 2014. DA is nicked all the time. I'd like to sign Sanu and draft Boyd. Team
them with; Edelman, Lafell and K. Martin.

I see brief discussions of a Flex type TE..... Have we given up on AJ Derby?

He's a big kid ain't he? Am I crazy for thinking James Develin would help us against Denver?
