The more time that goes on, the more I have trouble rooting for Kraft

What a freaking pile of garbage this thread is

Bob Kraft is the best owner in the NFL......now I could be setting the bar awfully low here, but we've had nothing but consistent relative success since he's been here.

now the pre Kraft pats were cute in a miserable sort of way.......I started paying attention around the time Fairbanks became the coach so I do have the luxury of putting the Bob Kraft Pats in the context of a larger portion of Pats history

But I have to say.......you have to be a spoiled idiot to NOT appreciate Bob Kraft and all he has done for the New England sports fanbase. People like that deserve an eternity of Harry Sinden
I think this is an instance where we have to keep two conflicting ideas in our heads at the same time.

Yes, Bob Kraft breathed life into a moribund Franchise that was trying to move out of town and he deserves full credit for his gut instinct that BB was worth a first rounder and yes he deserves full credit when he didn't interfere (a la Dan Snyder) when Belichick went with Brady over his own favorite (at the time) Bledsoe...all of those things...and much, much more...are true.

But he completely blew his handling of the Deflategate nonsense from San Francisco on. He should have been angry and defiant over the League's behavior instead of "making nice."

He's too smart a businessman to have thought that being "nice" was going to make any difference in how Goodell and the owners would (mis)behave. The latter was not only naive but arguably disingenuous. He has since repented of that mistake, but the damage was done. He put, at the time, his "feel good" standing in the club of owners over his Quarterback and his organization and his fans.

The good he has done outweighs that error, IMO, but it was a very big error by a man who has also done a lot of good.

How did Belichick become our head coach? Divine intervention??

I think the more important question is how did Tom Brady come to be our QB? We probably have to thank **** Rehbein, because without his insistence the BB/Kraft Pats don't draft Brady. The heck with it, let's forget all the middle men and thank Billy Sullivan, the man that started the Pats. Without him there is no team for Kraft to maneuver into purchasing from Orthwein and no Belichick or Brady.

Yup. Been a Pats fan since 1976. I miss those Pre-Kraft Pats:)

Lmao

This is like someone missing homelessness.

Those were the good old days..............

Kraft's good decisions far outweigh his bad ones, and those were made under dicey circumstances. All the day-to-day decisions that result in seven superbowl appearances and the winningest team ever don't seem to get the attention of those when the negative spotlight is on.

This anti-Kraft sentiment seems petulant, IMO.

Too bad for Billy that he had a nitwit son. Chuck thought that he was a showbiz mogul like Harry Frazee.
After mortgaging the stadium and team to finance the failed Michael Jackson tour, Billy was as poor
as a church mouse.

Kraft isn't the one who accused Brady of deflating balls. Kraft isn't the one who had cameras on the sidelines. And Kraft didn't boo Brady at the Super Bowl.

Find another scapegoat. Being portrayed as the villain is part of the cost of being so successful. Don't allow it to make you turn on your own.

Did you go back to everyone that disagreed with your post to find a post of theirs to dislike, or did you just do that to me?

You sound like you should move on. Adios

The Sullivans and Kiam were in over their heads trying to deal with Kraft and Orthwein. Kraft used his leverage as owner of the racetrack and the lease on the team to eventually end up with the whole shebang.

Your conclusion is contradictory. If you get an "F" in brand management, it's going to hurt you at the bank eventually.
I would respectfully disagree. Brand management refers to perception:
In marketing, brand management is the analysis and planning on how that brand is perceived in the market.

We cannot know the financial impact of Kraft's actions. Most of us would agree that they have adversely affected the perception of the Patriots.

He was to a T. Overextended his financial interests to the detriment of his sports franchise.

What's idiotic is fans complaining about an owner who has brought so much success to one of the worst teams in the history of the NFL. Now that's incredibly idiotic.

This is totally irrelevant to how he rolled over and just accepted getting raped by the league.

What he did was not right in my eyes, and it was unfortunate since doing what we wanted him to do would have gone completely against his nature. He's a lover, not a fighter, unfortunately. He just got put in a position he is not built for.

But just remember if it weren't for this guy we would possibly be in St. Louis right now. The Patriots likely would be a long faded memory. So before faulting him for everything, keep in mind we don't even have this dominance without Kraft.

I'm moving on when Brady retires. He earned the respect of every Pats fan and every past and present player.

When you say this, do you mean you are no longer a patriots fan once brady retires?

The winning didn't start until Brady took over as QB. Until then they had some success in the 80s and 90s, but no SB wins and nothing like we've seen with TB12. Anyone who thinks that the Pats will have the same success with another QB besides Brady is in for a big surprise, no matter who the owner or HC may be.

and none of it would have existed if it weren't for Kraft.....no Kraft, no BB.......no BB, no Brady

Looking at it any other way is spoiled stupidity

and provided it is all HIS investment, I won't question the decisions he needs to make in order to protect what he's built.....which happens to be much more important than some piss ant fan's opinion

don't like it? pick another team

without bob kraft, NONE of it happens

Kraft has done a lot of good things for the franchise. Most of Kraft's fame/money/popularity revolves around Belichick / Brady. They are one of the if not the most important reason why his franchise is so successful and popular and a money making machine.

What baffles me is by not defending both on 2 separate occasions, he has pretty much damaged his own brand everywhere barring New England area. It is still making money, and in my personal opinion, when that changes, he will move on.

It will be interesting to watch what happens to this franchise when BB/TB decides to hang it up.

WHO F*CKING CARE!!!!

without Bob Kraft, there would never have been a deflategate because there would never have been a goddamned team here

the only question from there is 'would you be rooting for the jets or the giants?
