Has anyone pointed out that Manning again gave himself up, only to be allowed to get back to his feet to continue playing? What a ridiculous play to have to use a challenge.

I'm sorry Joker, you're right. Confirmation bias applies to all 32 fanbases, except ours. Of course.

I don't see how anyone can deny the bias that Goodell and his cronies have for their former team. Kensil is quoted as saying that he'll get even with Belichick for leaving and has tried his mightiest to do just that. Luckily, in true Jest fashion he's too stupid to figure out how to stop them from winning.

Spygate was a completely overblown violation of a memo that was called during a Jets game, just like the phony call that gave the Jets another shot at a closer FG to win a game against the Pats.

The Jets have also been guilty of various violations, including the intentional tripping of a Miami player and multiple tampering violations, that received nothing more than a slap on the wrist.

It's pretty clear that the NYJFL is biased.

Game was marred by several bizarre plays:
- the incomplete pass call which led to the strip sack and Denver td. I thought the ref was awfully quick under the hood, that was a huge call and he got it wrong. 7 points for Denver. Also, Miller's subsequent sack should have been a penalty, as he hit Newton in the head/face.
- the punt return. I always wondered why missing a fair catch doesn't happen more often. The returner was surrounded by Panthers and would've had his head removed if they knew. 3 points for Denver
- the very poor fumble by the fullback after his big gainer, in a 1 on 1 situation. 3 points lost for Carolina
- the INT deep in Denver territory, right thru the receivers hands. 3 points lost.
- Cam's refusal to jump on the fumble - 7 points for Denver.
Even though they couldn't contain Miller and Ware, Carolina should have won the game but for those breaks.

This describes an average Denver game this season. Just wanna emphasize that I think overall they deserved to win because they made more plays but it is really shocking how much luck they had this year in the majority of their very close regular season games.

Is it Denver or Manning?

you forgot the obvious, textbook case of pass interference by the Broncos in the red zone on 3rd down. No call. CAR settled for a FG to make it 16-10. Sure, a TD wasn't guaranteed, but that was just a God-awful no-call.

I'm not saying the refs were corrupt.

I'm saying that the sucked, and their mistakes generally favored the Broncos.
Especially followed up with that little hook that got called holding to give Denver the 14 point lead. No consistency, classic Manning game.

And what interest do these Jets fans have in fixing the Car-Den Super Bowl, which is, I thought, what this thread was about? And why did these Jets fans care enough to levy absurdly unjust penalties on the Saints for bountygate? And what was it about being a Jets fan that caused them to botch the Ray Rice case so spectacularly? Did you ever consider that stupidity and incompetence are the ties that bind these men (and their puppetmasters--the owners), rather than team fandom?

It's as simple as this from a league/Jets perspective: the enemy (Denver/ Manning) of my enemy (NE/Brady) is my friend.

Has Brad Hoover weighed in to say that, deep down, he knows the Broncos cheated? Or is he going to wait 10+ years to make that claim?

I just wanna know why they didn't call running into the kicker on that long punt return.

Denver got away with that a few times this year. Most notably in the Pats regular season game.

Is this a time to say that whilst the terrible happenings of 9/11 and Robert Kraft going around saying to everyone we are all Patriots and then for them to go on to win the superbowl as we are all patriots ringing in my ears thinking should I be wearing a tin helmet.

Then in 2005 Katrina hit New Orleans, at the time one of the worst teams playing, lucky if they were to win 3... I said jokingly to many, I bet in 3 years they win the Superbowl.. I was wrong it was 5.

Now this year and I don't think I am alone in saying that we all knew Payton Manning was going to win another, but we never knew when or how it would come. Now we know. We all thought it would be 2 years ago but now we know that was two obvious.

Another was Ray Lewis going out into the sunset.

Hides behind a rock. LOL

Its like you don't want to believe it, but you can't help but feel that sometimes it does.

Phony air pressure report by ex Jet CEO at Pats playoff game...IMMEDIATE GOODELIAN SCORCHED EARTH RESPONSE

Punctured eardrum, beatdown of a defenseless woman by highly visible NFL QB, team accusations of coverup...CRICKETS

when the **** ARE you going to "believe"?

You were right. 2006 was NOs 1st season after Katrina and they won the SB in 2009

OK Saints were the 5th team after Katrina to win the superbowl

I don't agree that the NYJFL tried to fix the SB this year, which is why I didn't jump in on that. I only commented on the Jets connection because the subject of bias came up and it is definitely there. The lack of any real punishment for more severe violations by the Jets proves that on it's own.

As for the ridiculous penalties levied against the Saints, we can only guess. Maybe it had to do with his stated quest for parity or maybe it was simply Goodell's ego getting in the way. I'd ask the same questions about Richie Incognito's loss of an entire season and millions of dollars as well. For what?

As for Ray Rice, it appears as though Fraudger was going to let the Ravens skate but then the video came out and he reacted to the negative press.

Did you ever consider that stupidity, incompetence and bias are all involved?

The 2007 Super Bowl made the regular-season Patriots game in Denver this year look like a paragon of integrity. I'll never forget Troy Aikman repeatedly asking, for hundreds of millions to hear, what is wrong with the clock and why it's not working as the Giants are given extra time to complete the game-winning drive...Or the most blatant OPI in the history of football, that got shown in replay no less, when Burress caught a long pass - after pushing the Patriots cornerback about six feet away with fully extended arms - in the first quarter that put them in field-goal range and ended up being the winning margin, and OPI wasn't called...Or slow-motion replay on a third-quarter drive showing Brady getting hit, not just late, but in the head (specifically his chin), and not just in the head but by the helmet of the Giants defender, and not even Aikman and Nance said anything about the fact it wasn't called, and that play was third-down and we had to punt, whereas we were close to the fifty and would've been in Giants territory, i.e. close to scoring range, if the penalty had been called...And then the storyline was how the Patriots' storybook pursuit of the perfect season came up one game short, but the whole thing was a lie and Belichick and Brady should already be five-time champions and Don Shula should be a bitter old man as opposed to the gloating one he is.

The bogus grounding call in 2012 when there was a receiver as much in the vicinity as one can be without dropping the ball, was less obvious but still started the Patriots in a hole, and of course they had to kick off, and the Giants scored on the ensuing possession, and that touchdown ended up being the difference in the game. One more possession for the Patriots, particularly one that early in the game, and one less for the Giants easily could have made the difference in the game. When any two teams in the age-of-parity NFL play, it doesn't take a lot to sway the outcome; and when those two teams are the two best in the league that year, it takes even less.

I don't remember whether it was that 2012 game or the AFC championship the year the Ravens supposedly won the Super Bowl, that during the halftime show Mangini commented, again for hundreds of millions to hear, that the refs were letting the defensive backs for the Patriots' opponent (he called the team by name but I don't recall which it was) make extra contact beyond five yards. And this is a coach that had not just coached against the Pats but had turned them in for a violation just a couple years earlier.

As multiple other posters have commented, anyone who doesn't think at this point that the NFL is corrupt, should be a publicist for Santa Claus and the tooth fairy.
