Denver Cap situation?

And I don't know if the various cap sites have updated their numbers yet, but the Broncos just effectively lost $4 million in 2016 cap room since Peyton hit all of his incentives.
Yeah, the $2M for getting to the SB and $2M for winning it would be NLTBE so when you hear of their cap #, you can subtract $4M. Spotrac tweeted something about their cap number and when I asked they said the $4M is not factored in, along with no other similar adjustments.

Don't worry about the Broncos cap space, if they have to they will just circumnavigate the salary cap rules much like the PED rules.

big deals for talib, harris, clady, ware, demaryius, tj ward, vasquez, and they still have 20 million available.

who's their cap guy??? we barely have any room and that's with tb12 taking a huge discount/having gronk on a " friendlier " deal..mccourty also has a huge contract. that's pretty much it.

What are you talking about? Pats have about $7m in cap space and the Broncos have around $10m for '16 now because Manning's playoff bonus is going to cut into their carryover.. But the Broncos have more pending FAs (some of them starters) and they have to pay Miller, who will cut into almost all of what they will save by cutting Manning, not to mention Osweiler is a FA so they either have to pay him starter money or go find someone else.

Pats biggest FA is Hicks and it's pretty much a sure thing they will not be picking up Mayo's option so that creates $7m more in cap space before FA starts.

they have something like 20 million in cap space, not including what they will get once peypey retires.
I think 16 million to be specific.

Pretty sure that $16m figure doesn't include Manning's $4m playoff bonuses.
So this would drop it closer to 12 million? How much do they save exactly by relieving their cap of Peytons contract (whether by releasing him or him retiring) is what I've really wanted to know.

Pats also have the 51 spots on the roster filled, Denver only has 42 spots.

16.5m but that's going to be eaten up by Miller and whatever QB they decide to sign, remember Osweiler is a FA.

But I'm wondering how much Brock will go for, plus if they will get all 19-ish million of Peyton's contract on the cap space

Think you misunderstood. Manning's playoff bonuses will put their cap space down to $10-$12m. Cutting Manning will save them an additional $16.5m but they are going to retain Miller either by the franchise or a huge deal. Franchise for a LB is $14m and then they either have to re-sign Osweiler to a starter money type deal or go pay a starter. So any money they are freeing up by releasing Manning will be eaten mostly by those two things.

Everyone's afraid of Denver's defense, and rightly so. They held the Patriots to 4/28 on third downs - that's ****ing pathetic for a team with Brady behind center. Patriots also couldn't move the ball on Denver at all - longest drive was 13 play 48 yard drive for a FG.
The key is getting them at home. I'll say it now and fanboys get up in arms, but the Patriots CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT win in Denver. It's not happening.
Denver has a very easy schedule (NFC South, AFC South). If their defense is anywhere near as good as this year, I don't care if they have Danny Kannel at qb - they'll win 12 games EASY. Patriots gotta win that game in Denver if they want ANY shot at getting them at home in the playoffs....

Well, they had a shot (and a pretty good one) to get HFA without winning that game in DEN this past year. So they'd probably have a shot at it without winning there next year. But it would definitely help. And you're right, NE playing in DEN is not good for them. Never has been.

Ya let's just ignore the drives of

3 plays, 65 yards
11 plays, 63 yards
8 plays, 57 yards
8 plays, 50 yards
5 plays, 51 yards

but the Patriots CANNOT CANNOT CANNOT win in Denver. It's not happening.

So they can't win in denver but they have to win in denver to get home field. Well that's that guys 2016 season is already over might as well not even watch.

make a better effort to troll.

Trevathian, Marshall, Jackson, Miller, Ostweiller, both running backs...all free agents.

They've got 20 million in cap space without counting a QB (16, actually, or maybe even less because they have to pay the SB NLTBE bonuses).

If they tag Miller, it will eat 14 million of that money - which might be all of that money - and htat's assuming he takes a tag, which I doubt.

Will Ware and Talib redo their deals? I doubt it since both are getting near the end. Heck, Ware might well retire - he's 34 and has his ring.

damn..and all of the tough games are at home again. if they get mediocre qb play, they will probably be the 1 seed again.

It's amazing they have managed their cap and roster like they have. I'm not saying there is something shady going on but makes you wonder like back in the late 90s. Elway is still there after all.

Ive been saying this for awhile.

I wouldn't say the NFC south is an easy division. First off, they have the panthers. Both the Falcons and Bucs are teams that can give them a challenge and should improve during the offseason. Also, you can't leave out their own division. KC was very good to Finnish out the year. They'll always be a challenge for Denver. Chargers had a horrible year due to injuries, but they will also be a challenge. If the raiders draft good again this year , then they're a team capable of giving denver a hard time.

That answers pretty much everything I was wondering, thank you!

Who would've thought the banged up Pats would do a better job vs the vaunted Denver defense than the Panthers? The AFCCG was the Superbowl!
