Hi -

I know Miguel and others have done a fantastic job of breaking down Pats cap over the years - this is very much appreciated.

Don't need anywhere near the level of detail but was wondering what Denver's cap situation is like for 2016 and beyond..Off the top of my head they are paying big money (or will need to) to Peyton, Talib, Harris, Miller (?), Ware, Sanders, Wolfe, Thomas etc...

I suppose the Pats have a bunch of big contract guys as well - but it seems like Denver is throwing around alot of money and the cap hasn't come back to bite them. will they be able to keep this core around?

I see Denver as a big impediment to ring #5 for Brady over next few years and wondering if we seem continued dominance or if we see a step back due to players being signed away due to cap issues (ala Seattle - although they are still very good).

they have something like 20 million in cap space, not including what they will get once peypey retires.

There are a few articles out there but seems to me Elway has done a pretty decent job with the cap situation for 2016.

Peyton Manning's future among Denver Broncos' offseason questions

With that said the need to pay Miller, Jackson and Ossy in 2016.

They are in the same situation this year as the Pats will be in the 2017 offseason.

Good luck.

Denver has 142.3M spent on 42 players right now. Which includes Manning's $21M cap number but will almost 1000% cut him or he will retire which would bring Denver down to 123.3M spending on 41 players.

But they will need to sign a QB(Osweilier is a Free Agent)

Von Miller will be tagged

Here are their Free Agents to be

Von Miller is only 26 crap it seems like he's been in the league forever.

I think the two keys here are Ware and Osweiler. Ware is either on the team for his $11.7M cap hit, cut for $10M in savings, or back on some kind of renegotiated extension. There's been no talk of the latter, and right now it seems like a popular guess is that they'll cut him and use that money probably toward a guy like Malik Jackson.

Osweiler is going to hit free agency after Miller gets the tag, so then we get to see what a team like the Browns is willing to offer him. I do fully expect him back in Denver, but his cap hit is going to be based on how much some outside team is willing to offer.

How about Danny Trevathan? would think he gets a pay raise?

Is there no dead money in Peytons deal? (i.e if they cut him will it still count against cap?)

Assuming PEDaTon retires, I can see Elway being bold and aggressive trying too fill the starting QB slot with a certified vet.....not Brock O......aka ....Lurch.
Could Elway shake Drew Brees loose from the Saints? Cousins?
Unlikely but I can see Elway willing to pay the draft pick prices needed to make such a big move. Teams windows are small and Denver's defense is primed to dominate for a at least a couple of years, why not sacrifice the long term future knowing how good their roster is now. As of now, QB is their only missing piece

Brees ? No way he's leaving NO. Plus put a dome QB in Denver? Recipe for disaster. Just like Gomer. Nah, they aren't in as good of shape as everyone believes. The cap space they do have will get gobbled up by Trevathian and Miller. Plus they need to pay someone at QB. I still think it's Manning. I really do.

They save $19M (his salary) by cutting him. He has $2.5M in dead money for 2016. His salary becomes fully guaranteed on 3/9/16.

It's amazing they have managed their cap and roster like they have. I'm not saying there is something shady going on but makes you wonder like back in the late 90s. Elway is still there after all.

I hope manning comes back so we can beat him (finally) in what has to be his last season

I would think Miller gets $12m per year? He is every bit as valuable as Luke Kuechly ($12m) and Bobby Wagner ($10m+)

He said before the Super Bowl that he wanted to be the highest paid defender in the NFL, and it's hard to argue with that after the Super Bowl. Suh got a bit over $19 million a year last year.

big deals for talib, harris, clady, ware, demaryius, tj ward, vasquez, and they still have 20 million available.

who's their cap guy??? we barely have any room and that's with tb12 taking a huge discount/having gronk on a " friendlier " deal..mccourty also has a huge contract. that's pretty much it.

And I don't know if the various cap sites have updated their numbers yet, but the Broncos just effectively lost $4 million in 2016 cap room since Peyton hit all of his incentives.

They got Talib, Ware, and Ward to sign team friendly deals where most of the money is at the end of the contract but where also the team can cut them and have very little dead money if done by certain dates.

Have you seen the Broncos depth? Let's just say they are lucky they didn't have to use it.
