I said it in other threads... Sooner or later carolina was gonna get punched in the mouth and all that swag and bravado was going to evaporate. Teams that act like fools dont win superbowls. Carolina is a joke. Ron rivera got out coach by gary k and that is humiliating.

I was with you until the last part. Belichick got outcoached by the Broncos too.

Kubiak also outcoached BB twice unfortunately you have to tip your hat off to Elway he made the right move moving on from Fox and hiring a hometown hero who closed the deal.

Along the lines of "people who live in glass houses...," I think we ought to be careful about criticizing coaches that get out-coached "by gary k"... :)

But, putting that aside, Carolina had a relatively weak schedule (doesn't take anything away from them nearly going 16--0), which probably allowed them to play with more "emotion" than "smarts."

Yesterday, they got punched in the mouth and now we're going to see how they deal with it, especially Cam, who showed up in San Francisco acting like he'd already won the game. He's only 26. This will either make him a better and stronger player or be the start of his decline.

first of all we played denver in denver twice and lost in ot and by two points. I think both games were on the players. The first game was execution and sloppy play.. Thats not being out coached. Plus gronk got knocked out and we all know the injuries we had. The second game, ok looking back bb probably should have kicked a field goal. But i wouldnt say he was outcoached. I think our patchwork offensive line just couldn't hold up. Denvers d is obviously pretty damn good. And with all the oline injuries and no real option out of the backfield since dions injury we lost a game we should have won. But that happens from time to time. Plus denver offence i think scored 5-6 touchdowns in the two games. Somehow pm threw 13 completions for 141 yds and had two turnover and they won by 14 points. That is being outcouched by a team that had no offensive game plan whatsoever. That stat line would never ever beat a bb coached team in a Superbowl

belichick bad at coaching extra points

I don't think the way he went after the ball was proof of anything other than a bad decision. I think he simply made a mistake and thought he could pick it up and then make a play. It happens all the time.

His overall game did show signs that he wasn't up to the task though. He seemed to be tight and pouting throughout the game. He is clearly the not-ready-for-prime-time-player that his detractors claim that he is.

That's the conclusion I've come to after watching the vine clip a few times. He thought he would pick it up to extend the play but just got flustered as the play unfolded.

Cam's PR right now is like LeBron the year after he left Cleveland.

He proved that he is both a sore winner and a sore loser. After spending all season taunting others "if you don't want us to celebrate, stop us," Denver did so. Then he acted like an immature child in the aftermath.

Good god he was awful. He did not make a single big play all game. From the first quarter on he looked tired!!! How does that happen???
Don't you know? The media wore him out during the week, he was complaining about it. Poor young fool loves to generate attention to himself but then when it gets to be "too much" he can't handle it.

When you are the QB of a team you need to project confidence to your teammates and fans. When they were down, Cam was sulking on the sidelines like a moody teenager.

It was the complete opposite of Brady, when we were down last year he was rallying all the players with confidence despite the bleak situation they were in.

Difference between a good athlete and a great leader.

Too much superman outside, too little superman inside.

TB lived thru more this last year, than anyone had the right to expect. He did it with dignity and the heart of a lion.

And then there was the 'Fig" folding and pouting, pitiful!

Like the saying goes....everyone is a big-talking, tough guy until to get punched in the mouth and knocked on your ass.

At first I thought he backed off because the other guy had the angle and he was hoping for the ball to pop out (like it did) so he could grab it on the rebound. But several replays later it really does appear he just quit on the play.
I've watched it a few times and can't believe it. Game on the line, fumble and 3 Panthers are just watching it.

I remember a similar play in Foxboro in 2002. Pats were playing at home vs GB and getting killed. Patrick Pass fumbled when he he got a hurty hammy. Every Patriot player watched the ball on the ground except Stephen Neal who dove for it. I thought that I heard/read that at 1/2 time BB promised to cut anyone on the roster regardless of pay and time w/ the team if they ever stood around when a ball was on the ground.

I believe him.

More likely I think we'll soon find out he has a shoulder injury (there was lots of grimacing).

I'm probably just being jaded, but my first thought when he was grimacing was that he was acting injured as an excuse for his crappy game.

the real MVP threw for 310 yards on the D two weeks before with less pass protection

Yes but Tommy arguably had his 2nd worst playoff game in his entire career.

Maybe thats saying something?

I didn't think it was THAT bad. Tom was clearly off but his performances versus the Ravens in 2009 and 2011 were pretty bad.

+1. Funny thing is that for the vast majority of the game, they were within striking distance. They had several chances to take the lead.

He got punched in the mouth early and just assumed the fetal position.

Yea I put that 2009 one #1. No WW and that team - for whatever reason was not ready to play the game. Maybe Tom knew that and being human he knew it was going to be a brutal day.

To be clear I don't blame Tommy for the loss 3 Sundays ago. If your line allows pressure on every pass play vs a very good D on the road you will have a difficult time doing anything. I implied that he had a horrible game and still put up 31o yards and came within a play of evening the score. Incredible...

Individually, he has had far worse playoff games in which he has personally played poorly. 2010 vs NYJ, 2011 vs BAL and the win vs SD he was poor...until the end.:D

To much is being made out of Cam not jumping on the football imo, I watched the replay a few times. It's hard to tell how a football is going to roll or bounce, a couple teammates came diving in and sometimes the ball has a tendency to squirt around. I can understand a little hesitation, I doubt it was some grand act of cowardice or fear.
