The rule is pretty clear that the ball can touch the ground while in control. And that's what happened.. I know that it's tough for you to understand..

They didn't have strong enough evidence to say the ball wasn't popped loose partly by hitting the ground. If the ball was dislodged when it hit the ground, then he was not in control.I do think if they had called reception on the field, they probably wouldn't have overturned that either. It was close enough to go with the call on the field either way.

You are deluded if you think the Panthers would have won yesterday, but the refs intervened because the NFL wanted the Broncos to win. The Broncos D assaulted them the whole game.

WTF are you looking at? It's plain as day that the ball isn't touching the ground in that picture..

The silhouette of the ball on the left side shows it extending down to the ground.

The refs missed Talib being off-sides on the missed field-goal. It's pretty bad when the replay shows it. That would have changed the 44 yard FG to a 39 yard FG. Gano probably wouldn't have missed that one.

Newton fumbled twice in the redzone resulting in 14 points for the Broncos. Plus, he threw a drive killing INT.

On the last fumble, he stood there with the ball on the ground.

Complete bs call. Had hand completely under ball and if anything touched it was barely the tip. If that **** was incomplete then how the hell was Tyree's a catch?
For the life of me, I can't understand why so many refuse to accept the refs correctly ruled incomplete pass. Since you do accept that the tip of the ball hit the grand as the WR rolled over the ball, then understand the ball came lose after the ball touch the ground ...aka....the ground dislodged the ball....and it is irrelevant if the WR later secured the ball. The refs correctly ruled the WR did not control the ball during the ground contact and what ever happened after the nose hit the grass is irrelevant. If the WR never bobbled the ball and maintained control through the whistle, the ball-to-grass contact would have been irrelevant.

The worst call (actually a non-call) was the CAR receiver getting mugged on 3rd down in the red zone on a textbook case of PI. No call. CAR had to settle for a FG to make it 16-10.

I was right. NFL gave Denver the game.
1) Referee got the call wrong on the Cotchery incompletion. That was a catch. This led, directly, to Von Miller's strip sack and the Jackson TD. + 7 to Denver.

2) Referee blew the call in the 2nd quarter where Manning was down by contact despite the fact that the ref was looking right at the play. This cost Carolina their 2nd challenge.

3) On Carolina's missed FG, Denver was off-sides. -3 Carolina

4) On CJ Anderson's TD in the 4th quarter, his knees were down prior to the ball crossing the plane. It was plain as day. Yet the ref called it confirmed. +7 to Denver.

5) Every penalty in the 2nd half was on Carolina. They didn't call a single one on Denver. Yet there should have been at least 2 different DPIs and some defensive Holding..

This is why I have said for weeks the NFL wanted Manning to have his storybook ending.. Just like Ray Lewis did.

Now Manning can retire and the NFL will drop the investigation into whether or not he illegally used HGH...

The Broncos looked like sh*t most of the season but somehow caught a lot of breaks and made it t the big game where they faced a "not ready for prime time" Panthers squad. The regular season game against the Patriots was an officiating farce and Belichick seemed to have lost his mind for the rest of the season.

Was this outrageous dumb luck or a conspiracy? Or maybe a little of both?

Regardless, the NFL got what it wanted and it sucks! It stinks and it sucks!

I am not going with the refs conspiracy theory, but there seems a different rule for down by contact with Peyton Manning. This is the second time in the playoffs where he is sacked and down by contact and still allowed to get up and throw a pass.

Talib is fortunate he wasn't ejected.

Kontra - You're wrong. I only call out the refs when, indeed, they are the issue.

Please show me where I said Denver's defense wasn't dominant? OH. You can't. Because it didn't happen.
You also can't show me where Denver's offense did anything without the help of the Refs.

You didn't mention Denver's defense once in this thread. Instead, you blamed the refs for the loss which has always been your M.O. here has far back as I can remember. If you don't believe me, look at the post ratings on my post you quoted. I'm not the only one that has seen you constantly whine about the refs over the years. It's just that usually you only do it when the Pats are involved. When you do that, you're failing to give their defense credit for a dominant effort. For the record, on point #2, there wasn't enough visual evidence to overturn the call on the field. That's why the call stood vs. being confirmed. No conspiracy there. Point #4, the game was over by that point. Point #5, can you name some instances of that outside of Roby? I didn't see anything blatant outside of that and I'm wondering how you have unless you've already reviewed the All-22, which I highly doubt.

As to where I said it weeks ago, it's on this board. In at least two different places.

Where? Were you saying this when the Patriots were still in it? Regardless of what you think I believe about you, I usually find you a somewhat agreeable guy and take the time to read your posts. I didn't see you making the case once that the fix was in and that Denver was going to win it all... especially not while the Pats were still in it. If you were making that case and you knew it all along, what was the point of watching the season, playoffs, and then the Super Bowl?

And I only watched it because I was at my S-I-L's house for dinner and they had it on.. Sorry that reality flies in the face of your fantasy world..

I don't even know what the bolded means. How am I living in a fantasy world when you admitted to watching the game and season? My question is WHY were you watching it? Seems you answered it. And you will forgive me if I don't believe that it was simply a casual dinner party where the game just so happened to be on. You must have been watching it pretty attentively if you noticed numerous instances of DPI and defensive holding that weren't called.

The refs missed Talib being off-sides on the missed field-goal. It's pretty bad when the replay shows it. That would have changed the 44 yard FG to a 39 yard FG. Gano probably wouldn't have missed that one.

Aye. So the Panthers would have scored 13 in a loss instead of 10.
