Congrats to the whole Manning family

Between, Archie, Peyton and Eli, they have the same exact W-L record in the SB as TB :D.

EDIT: It was small minded of me to mention the below. I do honestly mean Congratz to Manning, but can't help but poke fun at Archie.

Winning with 2 franchises is a BS stat as Manning got to hand-pick his second franchise -- very few great QBs get to bounce around, and I bet none of them were still in their prime years as free agents (as Manning was when he joined the Broncos).

Manning deserves to be in the top 5 discussion. It can be debatable that he's the greatest of all time (although I don't believe it). But this superbowl victory, I'm guessing every other starting qb in the league if placed on Denver's squad would've ended up with either the same result or a much greater blowout.

Two points!

i think brady has a boyish vulnerability to his personality that brings it out a little bit

I know what you're trying to say.

But I'd say it has more to do with Brady being a team first guy.

The old tag that he's "just a system QB" doesn't help either. And that mind frame plays into the whole "He must be cheating" to keep on winning.

Manning's legacy.

While they were gently massaging Peyton*'s testicles from the booth last night, Nantz and Simms were marvelling and playing with themselves as Peyton* achieved 200 wins.. did not feel like checking last night, but this AM it seems clear that Brady is currently at 194 wins all time.

Currently #12 has 172 regular season wins and 22 playoff wins.. I am probably so disenfranchised with everything NFL in the past 13 months, it seems bigger than it really is.. but how do you neglect this information while anointing Peyton*???....

It was Peyton's night last night, not Brady's. How would you feel if Brady were retiring and some broadcaster was like "And oh btw Russell Wilson is right on his heels with 194 wins!"?

I feel bad for some of you guys. Really, are you trying to torture yourself looking for articles and tweets about this?

Everyone knows Brady > Manning. Even those who publically reject it (out of spite) know this deep down. Just watch last nights game. Manning did NOTHING. In fact he turned the ball over twice. The defense carried the Donkies to victory...that was all.

I think it's natural for people and the media to go there and I'm ok with the discussion happening after a win.

If Cam had won, it would have been about how he is changing the game and his very bright future/how many SBs he'd win.

This is why the HoF waits 5 years before a player retires so everything settles in and people can take a more measured approach to the discussion.

This world is filled with disgusting amounts of ignorance:

I gotta agree with the guy. Brady only threw 4 TD passes in last year's Super Bowl, but it was Manning's ZERO TDs, 1 pick, and two fumbles that won the game for the Broncos last night.

Brady: 95.3 rating which is excellent.

Montana: .....................127.8. WOW

That's a crazy, eye-popping stat for Montana.

Still, 2 game smaller sample size. Might be the only notable thing he has on Brady anyway.

Theres no comparing Peyton MAnning to Brady or Montana. There is just no comparsion

The one item the manning ball washers can cling to is Manning's 3-1 record vs Brady in AFC title games. You can't ignore that, but to say manning is greatest of all time is ludicrous

"Manning's 3-1 record vs Brady in AFC title games"

Manning's TEAM is 3-1 vs Brady in AFC title games. A subtle but important distinction.

Well at least Tom Brady is back in Chris Simms top 5 QB list. :D And Simms says we're going to the Super Bowl next year! Better book my Houston hotel now.

As I stated last night, while a few people may claim that Manning is now the best (probably the same ones who tried to make this silly claim before this season) the vast majority know that Brady > Manning. The debate was over long ago.

regarding this past year.....you are absolutely correct

the level of vilification and coverage over a couple of text messages was ridiculous

but even before that stuff, patriot fans were pretty touchy about brady

i occasionally peruse other message boards.....im a loser

favre and the packers.....manning and the colts......duncan and the spurs......kobe and the lakers.....lebron, etc

it always seemed like patriots fans felt the need to "protect" brady more than i saw anywhere else

just my opinion.....i might be wrong.....im pretty stupid

i think it has something to do with bradys personality

I don't get this. What is it about his personality that is so dislikable? Look at this quote from him when asked if he is one of the all time greats.

“That is a hell of a question and I wouldn’t put myself in there. I think there’s some incredible players that have played the position and a lot of guys do things differently to get the job done. You see different styles, different techniques. When you look at me being a fan of Joe Montana — nobody ever did it better than Joe Montana. In a way he was like the Michael Jordan of football. The style and the grace and the beauty of what Joe’s style was, it never looked hard for Joe. Another one of my idols, Steve Young, who was one of the most gifted players to ever play. You look at Troy Aikman, the efficiency with the way he played. You look at Aaron Rodgers and the way that he’s playing and you can’t imagine another quarterback could play as flawlessly as a guy like Aaron Rodgers. Then you watch Russell Wilson play and you never could imagine someone could get out situations and make plays out of nothing like Russell Wilson. Then you watch Cam Newton play. You’re blown away by the different styles of all these different players that make this game so spectacular. I think of myself as kind of someone who has got to think my way through the game, has to understand coverages, anticipate things. I have to work my butt off all week and work really hard to get to the game feeling confident with what I am trying to accomplish and get down the field to score some points. I guess for me because I have to work so hard at it and try so hard at it, that’s part of enjoying it for me, but I look at other players and say, Gosh, I wish I could make it look as easy as they make it look. It’s more than I could have ever imagined growing up as a kid on Portola Drive in San Mateo, California. I used to throw the ball in the Candlestick Park parking lot and third lot — just loved played in the street with my friends and drawing up plays on pieces of paper and memorizing them with my neighbors across the street. I couldn’t have ever imagined my life being what it has become. Hopefully the journey is not over, I still feel like I have more to achieve as a player. I still feel like I have more things to prove to myself. I look forward to those opportunities down the road.”

This is how Brady has always carried himself. I have heard it before, but I don't get the personality excuse. The only things I can make sense of is he wins too much, has too great of a life, and doesn't do funny commercials.
