The big offseason question: How do we solve the Denver defense?

#1 get home field #2 sign Matt forte so brady dose not need to throw the ball 50 times #3 cut marcus cannon

Ware, Talib and Ward are going to be sacrificed at the altar. It's in their contracts. Theres a good young nucleus there in Miller, Wolfe, Marshall, Harris Jr and Roby though.

I'm not worried about it. Their fan base is going to be very sad if they choose to open the season against us next year.

^ there are going to be salary cap causalities for sure in Denver.

The big offseason question: How do we solve the Denver defense?

Denver's defense is beyond for real. They are SCARY at rushing the passer and have two top cornerbacks. And they have a real good defensive coach.

What do the Pats need to do to this offseason to beat the Broncos IN Denver. I cannot emphasize that enough, we are playing in Denver next season. And it might be the Thursday opener which the home team has only lost once.

As you can see, folks think that this is no big deal. Denial is wonderful.

gonna return and try to win another SB john elway style?? i hope not...

fix the line issues/plus we need home field. gonna be tough next year since we play the afc north/nfc west instead of the cupcake afc south/nfc east.
At least we get Cleveland :)

People here were in denial about the Broncos all year long. A few particularly over the top posters took it to a whole new level with some ridiculous predictions that weren't even close.

Playing at DEN is always going to be a tough out, unless Tebow comes back and plays QB.

Missing the production of LaFell (74 reg season catches + a huge postseason) was enormous, particularly with all of the injuries. We had no one else step up.

The bigger issue was the lack of a running game, which most people could see posing a huge problem from a mile away as early as November, even prior to Blount getting injured.

If both of those positions/situations are addressed in the offseason, we should be just fine.

Yep. The league helped him get this one. He'll try for another chance.

I've said next year 10-6 is a very viable outcome. We shall see.

The one real beef I have with the game in Denver was the surface tablets going out. Someone knocked out the Patriots connection knowing that the Broncos would not lose theirs under the rules. Realistically I could do that quite easily. I don't believe this was an accident and it was calculated cheating. That game was so close this may well have been the difference.

Oh, I wasn't clear.

Without serious improvements to the offense, Denver will be a stronger team than NE in 2016.

The difference in game one was a fluffed punt. The difference in game two was Marcus Cannon and Vollmer. Not sure "serious improvements" is necessary. A decent RT would do it.

Health.

Simple as that. If this team was as healthy, I don't see why they couldn't have gone undefeated.

Add some new pieces in the offseason and the fact that we have no real big name FA of our own and we're in extremely good shape.

That's a really good defense but they have a ton of work to do to keep it intact. Assuming they keep most of it the Patriots are going to have to make them play the whole field and for me that come back to being able to run the ball inside and out and have a receiving back out of the backfield on every down as they need them to play sideline to sideline instead taking a straight line to the QB on every down. If there was one shortcoming each one of their playoff opponents had was the inability to run outside and the only way to slow down their edge rushers is to make them set the edge and stay at home or cover them outside. I also think a quality 2nd TE, I.e... what Chandler was supposed to be, who can give them the ability to go two TE and not lots a sheet because Brady will need every weapon available. The good news is that they will lose some good players, it will most likely be the first game of the season so they won't be in peak form, and the Patriots should be very healthy by then.

While the thought that something like that occurring in a close game may have dire consequences is true, let's not sound like the whining ass Pittsburgh Steelers.

If you want to be pissed off about losing to Denver (twice), there are plenty of other actual football reasons that we can look at, aside from losing brief access to a technology that didn't even exist prior to a year or so ago.

Good teams overcome those challenges. We got manhandled all day long in the trenches, had zero running game, and let an old, washed up TE catch TWO touchdown passes on our supposed "best defense in a decade."

Numerous instances. Roids, bad calls, and even deeper more nefarious things that went on. One of the most visible rigged seasons in quite some time. If a LB had stumbled away from Gronk like on the first pass play tonight, it would have been OPI.

yeah, everybody was saying same about giants in '08

one thing we could do is not start, like, kline + cannon

Giants might have made it back to the SB that year if Plaxico didn't shoot himself

Upgrade Right Tackle get back who can get tough yards
Chris Ivory comes to mind.
Lure Josh Gordon away from Cleveland
Sign Marvin Jones
Draft defense
As we see time and time again defense wins championship.

forgot to add that i hope tom's suspension doesn't get overturned.
that could kill the season before it even starts.

hey kraft, try to get our pick back you slug.

Patriots need help on the offensive line

Sign Matt forte

Cut Marcus cannon never bring him back

Get a corner to slide Logan Ryan back to the nickel he is not a 2

And I think the patriots could win the super bowl and keep grind healthy

Plus get Muhammad sanu

It won't happen but alshon would be a home run

muhammed sanu would be a good fit

Marvin jones would be to but he is going to be overpaid somewhere

This thread is funny. We won the SB last year.... lol. There needs to be a few tweaks on the offensive side, but I expect them to be overall solid in all three phases.
