Cam Newton.....the new Captain Dry-Heave

Cam Newton embarrassed himself tonight in front of over 100 million people. Put that man on suicide watch.

I said it in other threads... Sooner or later carolina was gonna get punched in the mouth and all that swag and bravado was going to evaporate. Teams that act like fools dont win superbowls. Carolina is a joke. Ron rivera got out coach by gary k and that is humiliating.

With an arm like has and the athletic ability ...
The tools are there to be a better QB ...
Throws the ball hard every time ... needs to to make all the throws and not sling everything.
Seems like he hates the short pass ... my guess his ego gets in the way of production.

Good god he was awful. He did not make a single big play all game. From the first quarter on he looked tired!!! How does that happen???

It was very telling when that graphic came up showing how much Carolina played with a lead this year. It really looked like they had to idea what to do once they were trailing. I think Rex Grossman had a better SB game than Newton yesterday...

I will never forget watching him fumble and then absolutely quit on the play out of fear of jumping on the ball. Brady would have lost and arm if it meant a ring.
That was such an odd thing. I can't really get my head around it. He's shown himself to be a competitive guy so I was surprised to see it looked like he quit. Nantz and Simms certainly felt he did but I don't know. Maybe the outcome really is fixed. Maybe it was just a brain fart -- which was team-wide in my opinion. More likely I think we'll soon find out he has a shoulder injury (there was lots of grimacing).

As for Donovan, after watching the Pats/Chiefs game, it's clear McNabb was not the only dry heaver in that game.

I don't think the way he went after the ball was proof of anything other than a bad decision. I think he simply made a mistake and thought he could pick it up and then make a play. It happens all the time.

His overall game did show signs that he wasn't up to the task though. He seemed to be tight and pouting throughout the game. He is clearly the not-ready-for-prime-time-player that his detractors claim that he is.

Kubiak also outcoached BB twice unfortunately you have to tip your hat off to Elway he made the right move moving on from Fox and hiring a hometown hero who closed the deal.

At first I thought he backed off because the other guy had the angle and he was hoping for the ball to pop out (like it did) so he could grab it on the rebound. But several replays later it really does appear he just quit on the play.

Along the lines of "people who live in glass houses...," I think we ought to be careful about criticizing coaches that get out-coached "by gary k"... :)

But, putting that aside, Carolina had a relatively weak schedule (doesn't take anything away from them nearly going 16--0), which probably allowed them to play with more "emotion" than "smarts."

Yesterday, they got punched in the mouth and now we're going to see how they deal with it, especially Cam, who showed up in San Francisco acting like he'd already won the game. He's only 26. This will either make him a better and stronger player or be the start of his decline.

yeah, when he's rolling chumps he's superman -- when he actually gets challenged he's not even a man

Too much superman outside, too little superman inside.

TB lived thru more this last year, than anyone had the right to expect. He did it with dignity and the heart of a lion.

And then there was the 'Fig" folding and pouting, pitiful!
