Not true. They had the Elway storyline over a young QB star

IF you believe in conspiracy theories about the NFL rigging **** (I don't) then consider that the NFL stands to make zero money off of Peyton Manning going forward. I mean, at most, they'll get 1 more year out of him. Meanwhile Cam is just coming into his prime, is pretty photogenic and charismatic and the perfect candidate for some sort of 'pass the torch' SB win.

If they're gonna rig anything, they'll rig it for Cam to win.

The idea that the NFL would take the crazy risk of rigging the game (they would seriously never recover) is inane to me, but if they were actually going to do something they'd be acting out greed not sentimentality.

This comment only makes sense if you're saying that the NFL rigged that game. I've never heard anything like that.

My point is just simply that if the NFL is going to rig something they're going to rig a game to setup the QB they hope is the face of the league for the next decade.

And, again, I think it's absurd to imagine the NFL truly rigging a game.

The whole 'Dungy turned the Tampa Bay franchise around' theory misses an absolutely vital piece of information.

The Bucs were horrible for almost all of their first twenty years of existence almost exclusively because of their owner, Hugh Culverhouse. While Culverhouse was notoriously cheap, he was not stupid; despite Tampa Bay's atrocious win-loss records and poor attendance, the Bucs were one of the NFL's most profitable franchises.

Tony Dungy was in the right place at the right time: he became head coach one year after the franchise was sold to Malcolm Glazer. Dungy inherited a club that had drafted Warren Sapp and Derrick Brooks the year before he arrived, and John Lynch prior to that. Those three were the cornerstones to a Tampa Bay defense that was one of the best in the history of the NFL - a D that was good enough that it should have made it to, and won multiple championships.

The fact that they did not is, in my opinion, and underachievement - and a reflection on the performance of their head coach.

The fact that they did win a year after he departed speaks volumes as well.

Right after that Dungy finds himself employed as head coach for a stacked Indianapolis team. Turn up the heat against a flu-infected opponent, pump up the artificial crowd noise, take advantage of your team President's influence on the Competition Committee, and voilà - finally, a championship.

Sorry, but dig past the career won-loss record and you find a guy who was twice in the right place at the right time, who underachieved, who did less with more than almost any other NFL head coach. Six one-and-dones in eleven playoffs? Ouch.

Sorry, but Tony Dungy is not a HOF Coach. At all. not even close.

Then you are naive because this is the 2nd time they've made it so that a "high profile" player can go out on top. The previous one was Ray "The Murderer" Lewis.

Ok, give me actual examples of how they 'made sure' Peyton went out on top?

Cause you guys are basically less credible than anti-vaxxers to me on this topic.

I think many of us know the real reason that Dungheap is now a HOF HC.
