Win or lose, Peyton solidified his spot as WOAT to ever start a Super Bowl.. Somewhat depressing to see that us and Carolina would have been evenly matched, in fact we played Denver much better in their own house.
Gotta give Josh McDaniels props for what we did on O that game after seeing Carolina almost completely buckle after being lights out this year on offense. You could see in the 2nd half of the Green Bay game that Carolina didn't have the heart of a champion.
In this league, you can't win every year and some years, you get matched up with a MONSTER defense and there's just not much you can do. We stood behind a bum offensive line who was severely outmatched and went down swinging haymakers and being aggressive.
Any arguments against 2015 Broncos as the unanimous best defense of all time? In a day and age where there are all sorts of rules on how you can hit and where the league places safety first, playing defense has never been harder than it is right now which makes this year absolutely remarkable.
We get to watch Peyton ride off in to the sunset as a liability. As a game manager. As a quarterback whose team gameplans around him. As the reason why his team almost lost. We also get to watch the prideful and egotistical Cam Newton get humbled a la Richard Sherman last year. Cringed every time I watched his antics this year.
Pats fans we still get to crown a champion today and that is Tom Brady as the GOAT. Its not a Superbowl, but it is the legacy of our franchise's greatest player and it was just stamped tonight. Brady never had the luxury of throwing to All Pro Receivers and having a defense who put up more points than he does.
It must be nice.
