I picked the Panthers to win but it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Broncos won. Everything seems to be going their way this year. After losing back to back vs Oakland and Pittsburgh, the Broncos got to play all home games, including a game against Cincy without their QB, San Diego, the Steelers without Antonio Brown and a hobbled Big Ben, and the Pats without RBs and hobbled WRs and OL. Now they face a Panthers team with one of their top LB's injured from the NFCCG.

To that I say:

We're due for the law of average to kick in. Panthers win.

So what if the Broncos win, my perception of Manning will never change. Brady with 4 Super Bowl rings and 3 SB mvp will always trump Peyton in my book. The broncos have all the tools they need to win, as long as Manning doesn't screw things up.
Your perception may not change, but you can bet there will be talk started if manning is the greatest ever once he announces his retirement.

that will only last for a couple of days...if the broncos win.

peyton loses, i cant wait to hear all of the excuses. GO PANTHERS

I agree, but you will never get his point across. Being the better team is irrelevant. Being the team that won, and the team that is still breathing, is all that matters. History is filled with "the better team" watching the playoffs and SB from their couches. I'd rather be the winning team than the better team, whatever that means exactly.
If people were content to view the NFL Season as a series of 256 isolated Regular Season plus 11 Post Season encounters in which there is only a "Winning Team" without having to conclude that any particular team was "Better" than the team they defeated, you'd be right.

But that's just now how human nature works. People want/need to evaluate teams, year by year, on their body of work.

In this particular case, Denver beat the Patriots twice, with two different Quarterbacks. We can complain all we want about some of the officiating in the first game and "what would have been" if Harper hadn't fumbled, but the second game was evenly called. In that game, the Patriots fielded a team with a brilliant Defense but an Offensive Line that had their QB on his butt 23 times, a poor to mediocre effort by Special Teams and a performance from the Coaches (part of the "Team") that many have questioned.

So, there is a body of evidence there and most, including myself, would conclude that, this season, Denver was "the better team," based on what we have at hand.

Its funny to me how much this bothers pats fans. The insecurity. Am I alone with not caring if people think manning or whoever else is the greatest ever lol? Its their opinion. Not everybody is gonna think brady is the best, and that's ok.

Just hoping for a great game. It's going to be near impossible to trump last year's amazing SB.

The Panthers look like a complete team and it'd be pretty impressive for them to turn rags into riches so quickly. Similar to what the Seahawks did.

It wouldn't surprise me if Denver's defense made life impossible for Cam. This is a big time moment, and he's going to have to prove himself. If he does then he's a legit stud. It would be quite the story for Peyton to go out on top though. I wouldn't have an issue with him calling it quits if he wins a ring. He had three great years for the Broncos, then his body gave out. Winning this year would be an interesting subplot that would be a stark contrast to his career and how it's played out.

Either way, we winning it all next year;)

Screw Agent Orange! Go Cats an' Cam!

Disagreeing with something absurd that media spreads to the masses is not insecure.

Disagreeing isn't insecure. However, that's clearly not all that is going on in pats land. Lets be serious. If you want manning to lose because you think some people might start thinking he is the greatest, that screams insecurity.

Only to the ignorant and foolish. Those who've both seen how the media works on this subject, and understood it, know better. Do I really have to point out the Barnwell article to you?

media continues to kiss his ass

I hope Caroline wins, but really couldn't care less. Goodell's reign has turned this hardcore fan of over 50 years into little more than a casual observer. Once the Patriots aren't part of the discussion I have little interest in anything the NFL is doing. I'm going to get a good movie or book and perhaps check on the score from time to time. But that's it.

I don't think I've listened to talk radio or anything to do with sports TV since the Denver game. Once a day I come here and skim the threads. Sometimes I even go into one if there is an interesting clip to see or a good discussion going on.

I no longer have the heart to support an organization so corrupt and venal. The hypocrisy is just so vast that all it does is aggravate me when I watch anything to do with the NFL these days. All I can do is be patient and await the start of TC in July and hope juices will still be there to commit to another season of relative excellence and another realistic run at a title. Until that time, the NFL can go F*ck themselves

For the record....

I used to make Super Bowl Sunday actual thing, sometimes having company etc.... However, the league has gotten so ridiculous that, in the absence of the Patriots being in the game, if Deadpool had been released this Friday, instead of next, I'd be spending this year's SB hours at the movie theater. Instead, I'll likely be spending it on the computers, listening to some soothing music, enjoying a bit of cognac, and reading a book.

Denver 19
Carolina 15

Denver controls the clock, Manning gets 3 or 4 first downs via penalty & Newton turns it over twice as Carolina can't run & turns one dimensional...and Jim Nantz has a boner the size of Manning's forehead the entire game...

The Broncos defense will be in all time talks if they can pull this out
