Patriots fan files consumer complaint against NFL

This guy is trying to get our picks back. I hope he is successful, but doubt he will.
It actually makes perfect sense, especially this part:

"“On behalf of Consumers of the National Football League (NFL) in MA, I/we claim that the NFL has breached Chapter 93A, Section 2 & 2a of the MA General (Consumer) Laws by wrongfully taking away draft picks of the New England Patriots, who were absolved of wrongdoing (see Ted Wells Report),” Derochea’s complaint reads."

I wish Bob Kraft hadn't capitulated. He just should have said, "We find this penalty unacceptable" and left it at that. Let's just say there is a .0001 percent chance some sort of wildcard action against the NFL by someone could've gained traction. Kraft's bending over ruined that dream of justice prevailing.

Curran said in his podcast the other day following the Tom Brady Sr. interview that apparently there's talk inside the team of pursuing this, so I don't think it's completely dead. But I think they face an uphill battle, although I think the league's failure to disclose the psi measurements this season is about as shady as it gets and might open the door for it. As a result, I think Kraft faces a difficult decision where he'll have to actually put their own interests ahead of the other owners, who don't care about him anyway and I'm sure have enjoyed this whole process, and actually make some sort of move to recoup it. Given the fact losing that pick puts him and his team at a competitive disadvantage - and unfairly considering the obvious lack of evidence - I think they at least need to make the effort either way.

I don't know if this is going to get any play from the court but, if you think about it, taking away draft picks punishes the fans more than anybody with the possible exception of the draft pick who lost his chance to be on the Patriots.

I also heard Curran say that while possible, a league official said it would require some sort of admission of guilt. I don't see that happening.

Kraft OWES it to the fans.

It's not like the NFL has buried the hatchet and it's time to move on. They're appealing the decision so they can reinstate Brady's ridiculous 4 game suspension. They want the picks AND the suspension because a large faction of NFL fans and owners want Tom Brady and the Patriots branded as cheaters. I don't care if Kraft succeeds or not. Challenging the loss of picks would show the symbolic support for Tom that was noticeably lacking last year.

Always thought some sort of class action suit by Season Ticket Holders arguing that the NFL had unfairly diminished the value of their tickets would have some merit.

He has no legal standing here. It will be thrown out in a heartbeat.

Trust me, the value of Patriots tickets never dropped below face value (not including the exhibition games). So there's no merit in that case either.

If it requires admitting guilt for something they didn't do Then f.ck the picks.

It's the NFL's version of the Alford doctrine. They'll call it the Brady doctrine.

Can't hurt, good to see someone taking a stance. Goodell *NFL* Owners* and their Witch Hunt Biased Tools in this should ALL be held accountable. March's Hearing will open more doors.

All it takes is one person as I have been saying, now what needs to happen is everyone find out who the guy is and rally around him. If that is in the form of the MB themselves doing it on the users behalf or a season ticket holder on here to send our support whatever is needed then that needs to be our next move as an online community. From there this guy can say he has the support from this group and that group etc etc. (nice free advertising for the site), but the forum members need to be proactive and not sit watching.

Congrats to the guy having the big cajones.

Taking away a #1 pick is about as severe of a penalty for this team as it can get since in 13 year's worth BB has missed on maybe 2 or 3.

After watching that pathetic excuse for a press conference I want him to go down hard.

Bob is better than this. Laying down to tyranny is very Un-Patriotic.

Will be thrown out before the judge gets to the end of the document. The second Kraft accepted "the NFL's ruling", it ended there... this is as silly and pointless as fans suing to keep the Patriots out of the Super Bowl. Sad, but true.

Roger's next move will be to hire Petyton's trenchcoat merc's and make sure this guy has an "accident".

Why is that? If I'm buying a service from the NFL and Kraft, and it has certain specifications, and they change those specifications in a manner that reduces the value of the service to me, why would Kraft's actions change the validity of the harm done to me?

TBH I could see an angle where he adds Kraft to that and the other 31 owners, not just the NFL.
