Scouting Report: Le'Raven Clark, OT

This player's name has come up in many patriots conversations, so I decided to do a report on him.
Here you go:
Scouting Report: Le’Raven Clark, OT | NEPatriotsDraft.com - 2014 NFL Draft

I agree that he's a project but I'd take him much earlier than the 6th round because of that atypical length. But then I'm someone who likes rare traits and those arms certainly qualify. The good thing is, is that he doesn't have to start straight away. In fact he could easily replace Cameron Fleming on the roster rather than Cannon (who could be kept or replaced by a veteran). Give Clark a year or two learning to play in a pro system and you could end up with a longer term Solder replacement or a Vollmer replacement.

I know his tape doesn't say it, and I'll reserve final judgement unti-l after the combine, but I would consider him a second rounder. I like him a lot more than Kyle Murphy for example.

From his NFL.com player page:

SOURCES TELL US
"He's going to end up being big time in our league. He's got elite foot quickness, he's long and he's smart. He'll keep getting better once he gets to a pro offense and away from that stuff Texas Tech does and he'll become one of the top five tackles in our league." -- NFC personnel director

BOTTOM LINE
Clark is an ascending left tackle prospect with the elite foot quickness and length that NFL teams simply don’t pass up for very long. Clark could still use more muscle on his frame and will need to be much more consistent with his technique rather than just relying on his length if he is to reach his full potential in the pros. Left tackles with his potential in pass protection carry first round value and Clark has a Pro Bowl upside with the floor of an average NFL starter.

The upside is there no doubt. You see these tiny little flashes of it in games. For me, I couldn't be convinced to take him before day 3, but if he interviews well and he workouts out well privately (both things we will never know) then I could be swayed into using an earlier day 3 pick.
Taking a guy in the 2nd or 3rd that you know can't contribute is to rich for my blood, especially with no 1st rounder.
I think where he gets drafted will be more on how he interviews than anything else. If he shows he can learn quickly then he will go higher.
He is a tempting prospect that will be very polarizing come draft time.

Yeah right now I don't know if I would start looking at him until the beginning of Day 3 either; it will
depend on the availability of other left-side OLmen. But as you stated, if he wows 'em at the combine,
pro day & individual workouts, then it would not surprise to hear his name called later in Day 2.

The more I watch of this OT class, the less I like.

That kinda sucks for us then, because if we have to watch the same crap on the OL start the season
in Denver that finished the season in Denver, then Brady will finish his season on IR.

Great work as usual on your write ups!! I've said it before, but if anyone is interested in a great draft site go to his site, it's a definite must read for all pat fans who love the draft!!!! For a newbie like myself, it's very informative!!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words. I really appreciate it.
