Kessler questions league’s decision not to release PSI data

Was wondering if he'd call attention to this, glad he did. It's pretty clear why the NFL isn't releasing anything.

There certainly will be no leaks on the results of these tests. I wonder if the owners including the one that owns the Pats who are funding the law suit will be provided the information.

I still don't like the references to the "troubling" text messages. Florio has been pretty good, but he is still a sucker to the text messages. I've said it before and I will say it again, it is not difficult to cherry pick from a year's worth of text messages of a guy who prepares footballs for a living to tell a story about football preparation.

You can take any text message where you want without providing context.

I never understood how the one about "getting them done" (sent during the week) can be seen as incriminating. It is understood that QBs have balls prepared the way the want before the game. What kind of subterfuge could have been going on during the week before the balls are inspected?

I wish Mr. Kessler had a the means to Compel the commissioner to release his data...

Under Oath hopefully

The only one of the text messages that struck me as remotely incriminating was the (paraphrasing) "Brady better get me my stuff or else his passer rating will be the only thing deflating on Sunday" one.

Kessler is a stud. RG, a dud.

The entire -gate BS frustrates me still.

There were a dozen or so texts that clearly referenced air pressure and a desire for it to be on the low end. If you read carefully, though, every single one of them was sent in the week following the 16 psi Jet game.

BTW, your paraphrasing is off by a substantial amount. The actual texts in that chain were:

JJ: Can't wait to give you your needle this week :)
JM: F*** Tom... make sure the pump is attached to the needle... f***ing watermelons coming
JJ: So angry
JM: The only thing deflating sun.. is his passer rating

Given the time frame and fact that Brady just chewed these guys out about over inflation, the only logical conclusion is that these guys are *****ing about Tom behind his back. Wells just did a great job of taking a few days worth of complaining about their boss and stretching it into evidence for a conspiracy.

The is only one text that is even marginally relevant once context is understood, "the deflater."

I would add that they are only "troubling" if you have already decided some activity outside the scope of the rules has occurred. If an investigating body looked into this with an open mind, the process should have gone like this:

What do the coaches and players say? - They didn't do anything or order anyone to do anything.
What do the ball attendants say? - They didn't do anything.
Any evidence from other teams? Any other examples? - No.
Anything suspicious from the security tapes? - Just the 90 stop in the bathroom.
What about the text messages? - There are a couple that use the word "deflate" or a variation of it. There's a handful on ball preparation, but nothing about lower the PSI under 12.5.
What about the scientific analysis? - All the balls were where they should be based on the temperature and the rain.

Conclusion - If the balls were at the correct PSI based on the temperature change, then there's no evidence of wrongdoing.

That's what should have happened. Instead, Wells was given the assignment: "We know they did something wrong. Find us the evidence.

Agreed QM though there was another one that the dorito dink:) said something about going to ESPN. It had a tinge of possible subterfuge going on.

These couple of messages struck me as 'huh' from the beginning. I thought 'sure, Brady may have asked for footballs to be deflated below regulation but this is a conspicuously inconclusive case at best. Certainly you don't smear someone and give them a huge penalty with a couple of context-less text messages (nothing remotely close to an admission of guilt), undocumented and almost perfunctory officiating pre game ball measurements (this in itself was grounds for a not guilty belief), ax grinding opponents driving it (conflict of interest), and an investigation/science that concluded 'more probable than not -- may have participated in general ball deflating'. That's such a weak statement.
Then what transpired next with Goodell/NFL owners/Media was the kind of story rigging that infuriates me about law/prosecutors/entrenched power of industry, media, ideologues (the history of my posting here on the wide subject of police/prosecution/abuse of power shows how frustrating I find it that a majority of the public so easily buys into story rigging).
Fast forward to today after the dissection of the whole NFL process. Obviously I am convinced to a very reasonable amount that Brady never said 'make that football below regulation' to anyone, and the NFL was just another example of power sacrificing an innocent man in order to gain political/structural power.
But here's the cherry on top and the lesson that surely will be lost on deflategate. The NFL will get pressure regarding Manning if more tangible things come up(though the bar will be much higher for Manning - the NFL will work to sweep it under the rug likely). Believe it or not they could end up pulling a defamegate on Manning too (very unlikely but possible). And what will be frustrating about that will be many Patriot fans celebrating that possible sham when they themselves saw first hand how it sucks being on the end of it. And it is that! which is the heart of the problem and why the Goodell's of this world get to pull the strings of story rigging to the detriment to those who don't walk the halls of power. (damn it really is the offseason isn't it :))

I still think that's its possible that there was an understanding between Jast and McNally that if the refs didn't follow Brady's instructions and pumped the balls higher than 12.5 that they would themselves bring it down to 12.5 afterwards. Explains the text messages and why Brady was so pissed off that the refs kept screwing him by giving him over inflated balls. The fact that Brady himself took the page of the rulebook to the refs because they kept over inflating the balls may have convinced him that if he wanted to actually get the balls the way he legally wanted he'd have to have his own guys make sure they're right. All Brady had to do was at some point say "Jast, just make sure I get the damn balls at 12.5" and because no one before deflate gate gave a f.uck about PSI they did what they needed to do.

But that's just a theory, I wouldn't bet on it or anything. Either way Brady did absolutely nothing wrong.

It was not just Jast and McNally, I know Brady also asked to them to do whatever they can to get the ball where he wants them. A little needle in the ball to let a few air out. This was not a federal case.
Notice Brady's stance? He has not ask anybody to get out of the range in the rule book, he just does not want them harder than he sets them before going to the refs. If some ref decides to just pump them up, he wants dirito dink to do his job which has a lot of stress.
We Pats fans must accept these text messages reveals something. There is no reason to lose weight and then decide to joke about going to ESPN.

I'm not accepting anything, that's just my "worst" case scenario. And in this case "worst" is a misnomer because there's nothing bad about it.

Roger Goodell
"Goodell is someone who, in his own words, “just won’t take ‘no’ for an answer.” He wanted to work for the NFL after college, and so he wrote letters to the central office and to each of the 28 teams in hopes of getting an internship. Although many people told him that all his letters would be ignored and he received many rejections, his persistence paid off. He landed a three-month internship in Commissioner Pete Rozelle’s office just a year out of college. And, except for a one-year internship with the New York Jets in 1983, Goodell has been at the league office ever since."

THIS is a L-I-E!!

Goodell is a LIAR. How many times does this need to be shoved in your faces until you SEE the SIMPLE truth? Look at his so called "cover " letter to Rozelle and the NFL offices....
CEw-nxBWYAAZei3.png

This is NOT A POSSIBLE JOB by the NFL's own rules and standards! This "letter" surfaced in 2008 after the biography page on WIKI for Goodell showed his FIRST internship/job in the NFL to be with the NEW YORK JETS! In fact, this was the ONLY information officially available on Roger Goodell going BACK to 1983! Goodell had the page EDITED in response to being DIRECTLY LINKED to the Jets and subsequently being EXPOSED about it on open internet sources and boards in 2007-8!

Goodell DID NOT apply as an intern, as he had amended in his bio in 2009, because it WAS NOT A POSSIBILITY! READ the official NFL rules on internships.

The truth is he kicked around after college becuase he was NOT a magna cum laude grad as he claims but a C- grad in a business curriculum.Don't believe me, CALL Washington and Jefferson yourselves and request his TRANSCRIPT! It's all there and has been all along. His whole concocted "story" is complete bullshyt fabricated in 2009 and subsequently in the desperate attempt to HIDE his REAL TRUTH. Goodell is, as he has always been, a PATHOLOGICAL, MEGALOMANIACAL LIAR!

All of you see him on TV and hear him on radio and all of you struggle to make sense out of his convoluted non-answers and pretzel logic when the TRUTH about Roger Goodell is MUCH MUCH SIMPLER...he's a LIAR. Everything he has EVER put out there in public HAS TO BE ASSUMED to be L-I-E-S.

I don't understand why the union isn't making anything of this. They should be the ones calling for the release of the data.
